Chooser of the Slain

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about my Chooser of the Slain. I was going to go with the traditional cyber raven but then I had an idea. The only limitation on the model is that it must be "no bigger than the Rune Priest", this seems to open up some interesting possibilities.

I was thinking of using a model of the Rune Priest painted up in a style similar to the Army of the Dead from Lord of the Rings to represent an astral projection of the Rune Priest's self - he gains extra accuracy by spirit walking across the battlefield. What do you think?

Thanks IronKing - that's a good idea, a money saving idea! Since I'm using a Rune Priest in Terminator armour I don't want to have to use a terminator just for a marker. I do have a bunch of spare Chaos Marauder bits - I can make a near naked wild bearded Norse looking man. This will be his spirit self - in his mind he is unfettered by his cumbersome terminator armour and technology - he appears as the Fenrisian tribesman he would have been had he not been chosen to become a Space Wolf.

I like the wolf idea too. Noticed someone else mentioned a Valkyrie in their post.

Regarding being "naked" - its a more pure state in my mind, especially for spirit projection / astral travel or whatever they do... I might also look at a ghostly blue as opposed to green... same technique just blue. Mind you that wolf idea seems the easiest to pull off.

I thought about using a Guardsman in chains and having him screaming and pointing with binoculars in his hand...

I've gone with something similar - I took an "Big Gunz" crewmember from my Ork army (Gretchin with a telescope) to use. I call him my "Gretchin of the Slain".
