Heroes of the Flesh tearers

Mortarion

Recommended Posts

@DeathKnight2000: Not sure. He's probably one of the named characters I'm going to do quite soon, but right now I have other stuff that needs to be done. Something big and flying...

@robot530: It's an ongoing army project. Right now I have about 4000 p and I keep adding stuff now and then.

@vharing: The Narthecium arm is scratch built. I had run out of normal apothecary bitz and needed to make one of my own. And since I hade to build it myself I swapped arm from left to right to make it more unique.

A captain with jump pack and lightning claws. I really don't like the use of terminator-sized lightning claws on power armoured models. They look too clumsy IMHO. So I decided to build something that would match a power armour better. I think it worked out pretty well in the end.

Thanks.

@Cain Tiberius Kondrad: No problems. Steal away!

@Battle-Brother Ludovic: The fists are from Fantasy Black orcs and the claw blades are plasticard. And I used some green stuff as well, but not much and only to fill gaps. As for upcoming things I'm not sure. Maybe some land speeders...

I have been trying to figure out how to convert a Mephiston for the Flesh Tearers I am starting. Are you going to be making one for yours, Mortarion?

Some day I will. I started building one a long time ago, but there are some details that I haven't quite figured out how to make yet. But there will definately be a Flesh tearer Mephiston.

Another hero emerges! This time it is revered brother Walach, Reclusiarch of the Flesh tearers!

I wanted this model to really stand out from my regular terminators. And that meant making his armour even more ornate. It took quite a while to get the armour ready as I kept adding different parts to it.

The banner was an idea I've had for a long time. I think it is quite cool in an absurd way. Death... with a chainsaw!!

Detail of the combi plasma and one of the shoulder pads. I added the teeth to the shoulder pad when I realised I hade lots of skulls and imperial markings but not really that much to mark him as a Flesh tearer.

With the Crozius, I wanted to make something special. Normally, I like how they look. Nut I figured that a Reclusiarch should have some kind of unique weapon. I tried a few different ideas, but in the end it became a giant chainsword-thing. And to make it clear that it is a power weapon I painted the teeth glowing blue.

So, what do you think?

Thank you!

@Doktor Claw: No problems. Steal away!

@Xenith: Sure. The base is Coat d'arms Bright Gold. It is shaded with Citadel colours Tin bitz and highlighted with Mithril Silver. For both the highlighting and shading I used somewhat watered down paints to make the transitions smoother.

I've taken a bit of a break from my Flesh tearers but for an upcoming tournament I needed something new. And then I started thinking about that unfinished Mephiston conversion standing on my painting table. Wouldn't he make a perfect Warlord in sixth ed? And it would definately be something new to play with. Said and done, I entered a list with Mephiston in it to force myself to finish the conversion. So, I present to you...

Chief Librarian Alucard, counts as Mephiston:

As with the previous named characters I thought about what the essence of the Character was so I could figure out what needed to stay the same and what I could change and still make my version instantly recognizable. With Mephiston the simple version of my conclusions was "Space vampire". But I kept the armour and robes as well. But I wanted my model to be a lot more dynamic then the rather static original model.

Like most of my Flesh tearer characters I wanted this one to be a bit darker then the Blood angel version. The Flesh tearers do not really have the same angelic gloriousness to them as their founding chapter. Giving him dark hair and simply using the darker Flesh tearer colours helped me a lot with the darkness and the "evil" eyes did their part as well. For some reason I come to think of the first Evil Dead-movie when I see his face, but I guess that is a good thing...

The elongated plasma pistol was a small nod to his namesake...

The cape was the main reason my conversion was left unfinished for so many years. I simple could not figure out hos to make it flowing in the wind like I wanted. But It turned out pretty good in the end.

Some WIP shots. I had a strong mental picture of how I wanted this character to look. And that involved the wind blowing in his hair and robes. The hair was no problem since it was all sculpted in green stuff but it felt kinda stupid to convert the robes that were originally flowing in the other direction.

So, what do you think?

Thanks everybody! :whistling:

@Battle-Brother Ludovic: Unfortunately not much planned at the moment. I'm painting foul xenos right now. This was just a small break from that. But I might have some pictures of stuff that I have not yet posted here. I'll look into that.

@Marshal Sampson of Terra: Thank you. It's really nice to hear that my work is an inspiration.

@ChaptermasterDemon7: It's the company champion sword from the command squad box with the grip shortened a bit and two dark eldar hull thorns added.
