Loathir's Own
Hello all, Bolter and Chainsword fellow Space Wolf players (and all you lurkers reading this thread). I was wondering about what your thoughts on the units in the codex. I have just started using my Space Wolves for the devious purpose of Khorne Wolves so I am mainly interested in the CC units with transports to get them there. I will eventually, however start a company of the fallen for all those Dark Angels players that need something to look for. I do like the feud between the two about how the SWs stole a DA Thunderhawk and did other crazy stuff. I have never been big with the good guys so all of my stuff will be about chaos but the book is outdated and even though I like the models of the Daemon Prince, their stat line doesn't even hold a candle to my other army nids. T5 is not great and on 4 wounds that can't be ID that is alright but a 5+ Invuln is weak. all those things except for wounds you can increase but not all of them. But, I digress in all of your experience what is your personal favorite CC units and what is the best Point for Point CC units also, ranged units with the same idea of personal favorites and best point for point if you can think of them. I will start with CC units that I have worked with so far. No Special Characters, most of them are already good with the point for point, but if you are using a Force org. changing character mention it please. PF:Wolf Lord- Term. FB/SS Saga of Bear 200 I like the look of a Sword wielding sheild bearing 3+invuln St 5 EW space marine!! Best Pt. for Pt: Wolf Guard- 9 strong, Melta Bombs, Dedicated Transport: Land Raider-EA 662 1 Power Weapon/ Bolt Pistol 2 Power Weapon/ Bolt Pistol 3 Power Weapon/ Bolt Pistol 4 Power Weapon/ Bolt Pistol 5 Wolf Claw/ Wolf Claw 6 Wolf Claw/ Wolf Claw 7 Wolf Claw/ Wolf Claw 8 Wolf Claw/ Wolf Claw 9 Wolf Claw/ Wolf Claw W/ A Wolf Priest so another 100 points. But with the 5 wolf claws it is 20 Rerolling to hit+to wound power weapon attacks in a AV 14 Two Lascannon Delivery system! Very expensive but you can fit this unit into a 1500 Point list with another Land Raider lol. You may never get a game but it is a demonic unit. I test rolled for this unit and realized that it should finish off every thing in CC that I could think of at the time. When I rolled really bad their would be only 1 model left. The weak thing about this unit is that combat is over too fast! resulting in being shot to death. but that is where you work them best using the land raider to block LOS making a less skilled opponent to assault it getting the same amount of attacks back! These are my thoughts so let me know what is your favorite combination and how you make it effective! Thank you for reading. Marshal Wilhelm
Hail Loathir's Own Welcome to the B&C. I am sure you will enjoy your time here. I like this blog; Space Wolf Grey I think it will help you with ideas on SW units If you can break your paragraphs into smaller blocks, that would be a delight. :D Khorne Wolves, eh? Who can you trust these days? ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205901-space-wolves-units/#findComment-2456024 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
My favourite combat unit? Wolf Priest Jump Pack Saga of the Warrior Born Wolf Tooth Necklace Wolf Tail Talisman Meltabombs Wolf Lord Jump Pack Frost Blade Power Fist Belt of Russ 10 Skyclaws Power Weapon Mark of the Wulfen Meltagun That's a single unit, not cost effective but when it gets into combat it sure is fun! I don't really build lists competitively, I go for what sounds interesting and I field this combo at 1500 pts, then again I don't have much else at the minute. (Building a Heresy era Company, need more MkIV) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205901-space-wolves-units/#findComment-2456028 Share on other sites
MrPants888
I am a fan of this unit: 8 Grey Hunters with a Banner, Melta, and a MotW 1 Wolf Guard with a combi-melta and powerfist 1 Rune Priest with a chooser in a Rhino Drive around shooting Lightning and Melta from the hatch. If there is exposed infantry I will usually try to drive up and disembark in Rapid Fire range. Another reason I attach the RP is for LD10. I like to make reliably make Counter Attack tests. I've failed too many clutch CA tests :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205901-space-wolves-units/#findComment-2456265 Share on other sites

WG Vrox
Pretty happy with my Spearhead unit so far. Would not recommend for any list smaller than 2k as it runs 640 points. 10 Grey Hunters 1 Flammer 1 Melta Gun 1 MotW Wolf Standard. Joined by Arjac and all riding in a Land Raider Crusader with Extra Armor and Multi-Melta Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205901-space-wolves-units/#findComment-2457032 Share on other sites
