Well Sparta bolt gun as said and he will indeed have a sword, my thinking was a Glaive Encarmine made from Plasticard and the like anyway i shall try this plating idea now. Also Replica i agree with the exposed cables, but where would you suggest and what direction?.

And finally Forgefather i dont know why you cant see them ? others can and i can :S

No worries man, easier to knock up a drawing than try to word it. Anyway, heres what i think would look cool for the exposed cables:

I wouldn't say its totally needed, its really personal preference.

It looks great so far. But if I may, the photo of the GS'd collar, if that is complete, it is noticibly crooked. The whole idea of the plasticard is that it will give you a nice clean finished edge without having to worry about it being even the whole way around. Other then that awesome work so far.

Hi one and all a little update for you all. Yes i noticed the collar needs work but i just tacted the symbols on it to give it some idea of decoration it needs work still. Im pleased with the Armour plates how its turning out, Thanks to Replicas drawing and TIH And Sparta. However i decided to not do the cables i may use the idea elsewhere.

I have also done a quick pose of how i want him to stand, As always all help and crits are welcome.

That segmented armour looks spot on ;) adds a little more of a personal touch to the suit, like it's been gradually 'sculpted' by successive wearers over a couple of millenia.

You might have already thought of it, but from how the legs are posed I think he'd look good brandishing a sword in his raised right hand with his bolter/bolt pistol in his lowered left one. (just my humble opinion though)

cheers

Every time I look at this thread I think "Why don't I buy one of those to work on" then i realized i could blow $150 and mess it all up! Maybe I should try to sculpt a marine out of Fimo first to see if I can work at that scale. Any suggestions on what to do?

I'd grab one man, this scale is easier than smaller i reckon, cause the larger size causes natural highlights. If you are good with washing/glazing and paint chapping youre set. Plus, resin is very easy to strip the paint from, so as your skill level increases and you find yourself looking at it thinking 'i could do better' then strip it down and do it! Theres no 'need' to extensively convert it, it really is very, very impressive right out of the box

This work starts with a really good idea and you're doing fine, though you probably should try Milliput paste (especially the Yellow/grey one) instead of greenstuff. You can get waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay smoother surfaces with theses.

For example, this is a 28mm mini (erm well, a 31 at eye lvl)

Perhaps could you paint a few layers of watered milliput (consistence of milk) something like 10/15 layers under a smooth hairdryer. Once done, you'll have a really smooth surface and then if this seems usefull, try sanding with some 1200 grain paper, ending with some smoots cotton sheet. Getting a mirror like surface would match perfectly with the chapter chosen imho.

But its quite the hell of a job.

Cheers and grats for good work done.

Dark Sensei i see where your coming from but tell me where does this source of yellow milliput reside brother !?

Hmmm I'm not sur I do understand your question well, frater. This is the product I'm talking about and a way amongst others to find some.

Prolly one of the best pastes to work on armour though using a simple 2 components system. One of the most impressive thing to do is to work with a pencil on a watered paste, you can bring marvelous curves and very very smooth (quite mirror-like) finish. And btw, if you like regular Greenstuff and think pure YG is hard to fix (it might me), you can mix the 2 pastes together the way you like. Another advantage with all milliput is that you can put your work close to a source of heat and drastically rise the drying time.

My 2 cp.

Wow this is getting a following lol, sorry i havnt fed you with recent pics, but heres some now i have been busy with life. Damn life thinking it can take over my hobby !.

I've started on the foot need to smooth out areas but its getting there and the leg i need to work on and pad out for the next stage which you will see in the coming days (God willing!).

And the face i've sculpted i wanted to place on one of the shoulder pads, just to make the armour that lil more ornate, master artificer armour after all :P.
