Ancient Brother Hylas

This guy is my third Dread. Where the first two (Castor and Pollux) were made from reclaimed, old metal kits, Hylas is made from the new VenDread box set. It's a great kit with a ton of options. I magnetized all of his arm options, though only the Lascannon and DCCW are represented here:

((Yes, that is a strand of cat hair on top of the model. The cat likes to sleep on my workspace.))

looks like he's been drawn in a comic strip, which i like (am currently trying to make plasticard 'blurs' for my chainswords)

what i mean by that is the colours seem very flat, but as i said, i dig that, haven't seen the other dreads you talked about, but does that tie in to the rest of your force?

love the placement of the searchlight (wish i'd though of that, must buy another ven dread)

Thanks. The flatness is a desired effect, and it comes from a couple coats of Testor's Dullcote spray applied after painting, and again after freehand.

The other Dreads do look similar:

Yeah, I really like this version of the searchlight. Small, compact, and easy to place. Much better than the tall monstrosities that come with the other kits.

yeah, stuck the searchlight on one side of the sarcophagus with the intention of puttin an ironclad HK on the other 'shoulder', but apparently venerables can't take 'em. and by the time i'd checked that, the searchlight was stuck

:)

Love the clean paintjobs on all the dreads. Could just be the light, but the gold looks a tad too dark. I would hit a couple edges with Shining Gold just to make it pop more against the blue. I think the model would really benefit from the added contrast since at the moment everything is at a mid-tone. Awesome job though!
