bt_master
Sup Guys! I'v been really into spacewolves for quite some time now and now that I'v finished my Black Templar Army, I thought a small SW orce wouldn't hurt at all. I need some help though. No matter what, I want it to be all or near all drop pod force, I want to try a new style of play. With that said, I also would like to do a lot of Wolf Guard mostly terminators to keep my model count and cost down. Since I'v already got my pretty good templars and my most regular opponent likes to get as cheesy as he can, I would like it to be prettttty nasty, strong, and maybe a little cheesy if I can. Edit: LIST FARTHER DOWN: PLEASE CRITIQE! :) Any Suggestions? thanks BT Master Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205994-dp-list/ Share on other sites
Grimtooth
My old DP list was meant to do one thing and one thing alone, decapitate the enemy in my first round of shooting. I would drop in surround his high value unit castling it with my own drop pods and unload. Second wave of drop pods were then brought in as support for close combat or another round of shooting. bt_master
For my two troop choices in dp's would you suggest two grey hunter squads for shooting and then a decent close combat or only one and then a bloodclaw pack for a later turn drop in for a closecombat unit? wolf363839
For the ultimate cheese (and good luck finding the parts) Drop Pod 1: Logan Grimnar 6 Long Fangs with 5 Multi-Meltas and a Plasmagun on pack leader Wolf Guard Terminator with Thunder Hammer and Cyclone Missile Launcher Drop Pod 2: Njal Stormcaller in Runic Terminator Armor 3 x Wolf Guard Terminators with Combi-Plasma and Wolf Claw Wolf Guard Terminator with TH/SS Drop Pod 3: Rune Priest with Saga of the Beast Slayer and Chooser of the Slain Wolf Guard in power armor with Combi-Plasma 3 x Wolf Guard Terminators with Power Weapon and Combi-Plasma Wolf Guard Terminator with Power Fist and Assault Cannon Drop Pod 4: Rune Priest with Meltabombs and Chooser of the Slain Wolf Guard in power armor with Combi-Plasma 3 x Wolf Guard Terminators with Power Weapon and Combi-Plasma Wolf Guard Terminator with Power Fist and Assault Cannon Drop Pod 5: Venerable Dreadnought with Heavy Flamer, Extra Armor, and Wolf Tooth Necklace Now that's 2000 points of "bring the rain"... Definitely go for Grey Hunters if you are in any doubt - they are arguably as good in combat anyway and can have a wolf standard which gives them a definite advantage - Blood Claws do have their place (with an IC - it wolf priest O'clock!) but in pods and in doubt go for Grey Hunters every time... CainTheHunter
Don't pod or deep strike Blood Claws, cause they can really suck with bolt pistols if used this way. Either go with jump packs or Land Raider crusader. And a wolf priest and/or WG is a must then - except for skyclaws, where the WP is the only leash option. That's a ridiculously low model count for 2000pts, but I like!!! I already have a DP of plasma death under construction exactly like that, and another with Melta. I would probably drop the Ven dread though for another DP of 5 termies just to bulk up the numbers a bit, but certainly a fun list that will cause carnage on the first/second turn. bt_master
I never saw the point in waisting 15 points per squad to give one normal model with just a ccw a few extra attacks, maybe, its just not gonna cause many if any, extra wounds. But yes, I'll for sure take Wolf Standards. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205994-dp-list/#findComment-2458460 Share on other sites

But yes, I'll for sure take Wolf Standards. dude, these guys rock. MoTW has the potential to almost triple the number of attacks for the model, and when he is in combat for a few turns, it is easy to see that this thing MORE than pays for itself. In addition, the rending ability helps kill even more MEQ, etc. I would consider MoTW better than a power weapon, which costs the same, because it is much more versitile. Used against Orks, for example, you want every additional attack you can muster.
