White Wolf Wing

Recommended Posts

I am planning on making a Wolf Wing (Logan + TDA Wolf Guard), and in the spirit of the original DeathWing, I was going to paint them white.

This makes them White Wolfs, and so anyone who knows the World Of Darkness will instantly be thinking "Vampire, Wraith, Mage etc"

So, I could just model them up a bit like Vamp, Mage, Wraith etc, but thought i might be able to make each one a Chapter.

Vampire is easy; Blood Angels.

Mage I thought could be a Librarian, with Spell Book and Magic Staff.

Wraith I was thinking either a pure-white, ghostly model, or some sneaky chapter (I've heard of Gaunt's Ghosts, but not who/what they are. Any good?)

I don't need a Werewolf, as they are all Wolfs!

I could do Logan as a Big Werewolf.

Any thoughts on this?

Some Chapter ideas, or better ways to represent each type would be nice!

Gaunt's Ghosts are an IG regiment. Ravenguard are usually considered to be sneaky or ninja influenced...

But white armor and (black?) wolf pelts sounds a lot like Lunar Wolves to me. As I don't know what World of Darkness is and I'm too lazy to google it, the first things I thought when I heard White Wolves, were snow and old age. One of those is quite similar to the SWs already. :)

Anyway I'm not sure what you want to do. Do you want to create a DIY chapter with wolf iconography, make a 40k representation of wolves, ghosts and vampires, do you want ideas to model certain characters (from World of Darkness?) as specific chapters or are you thinking about building a crusade force with mixed chapters?

Thanks for the reply.

'White Wolf' is a Role Playing Game Company who made the "World Of Darkness" setting, and set several of their games there.

Games include:

Vampire

Mage

Changeling

Werewolf

Wraith

where you each get to play one of the appropriate types.

I'm thinking my WolfWing could be some kind of Crusading force/DeathWatch, using Marines from several Chapters to represent each of the Games.

They need to keep the Wolf Iconography, and I'll be using Space Wolf models, so they can easily be recognised. Then I'll convert each one to it's Game

The Vampire will get either get pointy-teeth, a bat on it's shoulder, a coffin on its base or painted in Blood Angel Chapter. The mage will get a pointy hat, Spell Book and Magic Staff, or Librarian Colours/icons.

Or both!

I was hoping to find some 'real' 40k names/chapters to use for each one, but ran out at Vampire and mage. :)

I don't want specific characters from the Games, more an Idea, so friends/foes (Most of whom know both 40k and White Wolf) can look at them and go "White Wolfs, eh? What's that red one? Oh, right, Blood Angel! Vampire! And the Guy with the pointy hat and Staff? Mage, of course! Look at his Librarian iconography!"

I did consider using an Ogryn as a Changeling (All about fairy tales, The Fey, Ogres, dwarves and Elfs. Another option was an Eldar (Harlequin or Exarch).

I hope this helps.

I'm good with the initial ideas, but ran out of steam with this one. Doesn't help that I'm a bit behind on Imperial/Marine fluff.

[...]I was hoping to find some 'real' 40k names/chapters to use for each one, but ran out at Vampire and mage. ;)[...]

So at first you wanted something like this?

Vampire - Mephiston

Mage - Ahriman

Changeling - Fabius Bile/Chaos Spawn

Werewolf - Logan Grimnar

Wraith - Shrike

[...]

[...]

And now you want to include a marine representing each of these creatures in your army?

let's say for example like this

Vampire - Apothecary

Mage -Librarian

Changeling - Captain/Tactical Sarge (hey, they are versatile...)

Werewolf - Chaplain/Assault Sarge

Wraith - Landspeeder/Biker Captain

I'm still not sure if that's what you meant. :)

Yeah, you've got it! :)

Both! :)

Seeing as I'm running All-TDA, at 1500pts, i don't have many guys on the table*, so I can either do a squad of Vampires, a squad of mages, etc. or mix'n'match: the Vampire (Blood Angel) has Lightening Claws (and Fangs), the Mage has a hvy wpn (spell/psychic power. Stats=assault cannon!), Wraith has a Storm Shield (insubstantial!), etc.

I'll be more going for generic versions, than Named Characters, but want 'real' 40k reference points (Chapters, ranks, etc).

I like Vampire=Apothecary. BA Apothecary, of course! ;)

I could do a "Librarian", but would like a Chapter known for them rather than a Major Character Librarian.

Same for Changeling (Tac Sarg sounds good, actually! Flexible, adaptable ... but what Chapter/Company?)

Werewolf will be Logan! :) no other werewolfs. Lots of Space Wolf Iconography/identifiers (pelts, runes, etc) to keep them White Wolfs.

The idea is not yet fully formed, hence the appeal for ideas! :)

I've got a box of TDA Wolf Guard open now, and don't want to start on them 'till I know what I'm building!

I don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Chapters and their stories, unfortunately. :(

*Current thought for list is:

Logan

1 5-man Assault TDA Squad

2 5-man Tac TDA squads

2 Dreads

1 Land Raider

19 models, 13 on the table, 6 in LR.
