humør
I have just stripped some minis that I bought on ebay, but it seems that I can't get all of the primer off. So should I prime it again or not? -Regards humør :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206099-prime-again/ Share on other sites
chenley
I would say go for it, unless the other primer is too thick. And I would try it out on 1 mini first, that way if it doesn't take (cracks, ruins detail, etc) you can go from there Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206099-prime-again/#findComment-2458413 Share on other sites
humør
Okei, thanks for the fast reply. I will give it a try as soon as I have removed all the moldlines etc :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206099-prime-again/#findComment-2458435 Share on other sites
Solid Zaku
I've stripped my Marines, who were primed with black mind you, and you'll never get it ALL off. There will always be some in nooks and crannies, and the plastic will have a sort of permanent black 'patina'. Don't worry, when you reprime, it will be as if the last paintjob never happened. Even if you go from black prime to white prime. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206099-prime-again/#findComment-2459824 Share on other sites
Bay
What are you using to strip your models? and are they plastic or pewter? As previously mentioned you never can get all of the old paint off, especially if it's a plastic model. Now if it was a pewter model I would argue other wise for I have stripped my models clean after soaking them for 12 hours or so in acetone, and the results are stunning. chromedog
Agreed. I've stripped metals in brake fluid (dot4) and they come out clean with a minimal scrubbing. I've had plastics left with some minor paint leftovers in crevices, but nothing that prevented repainting.
