Battle damage on IW

as the title says, I need a way to do battle damage on my Iron Warriors. the problem here being the "Iron" part, as in that they are already metallic, so my old way of black stripes with Boltgun Metal filling properbly won't work on them. Do you have any good ideas?

If you use a darker metal color like boltgun metal or wash the armor with a darker tone you can still add scratches with mithril silver or your base color. Adding spots of rust and dirt is another option to dirty your IW up. If you paint warning stripes on the armor you can go back with your base metal color and "chip" the paint.

 

"Actual damage" as in adding scratches and bullet holes can look good too, if you don't use it excessively. Broken horns on helmets and field repairs on the armor might work as well.

Darken the silver with a black wash and paint new chips and scratches with a light silver. Ive seen it done and it looks okay, but as Durus said, rust, oil and dirt are pretty much your only other options

Okay.. I'll look into "the usual way" (pure metal damage), if that doesn't work I'll try something else.
