Fenric
Just wondering since me and my friends just started playing 40k again after few years of not playing. Some rules have changed and we are going over them atm so we got it all right. What I was wondering is if Cavalry models( like Thunderwolves) can hide behind smaller units(like Fenrisian Wolves) and use that rule for 4+ cover save? Or as an example does this rule make it possible for a Carnifex to hide behind gaunts? Simo429
My understanding with TLOS is that you have to have 50% or more of the model obscured Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206235-cover-saves/#findComment-2460223 Share on other sites
Fenric
Yeh heard about that as well but doesn't that make it a bit weird in tourneys if you want to have a pack of Thunderwolves? They got no official model so are they allowed? And with that rule getting the smallest ones are the best then. It depends on the tournament and I think more importantly the country its being held in From what has been said on here you couldn't use them at all in battle brothers in the US but ive ssen loads of tournaments in the UK where you can use the Mr Dandy models Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206235-cover-saves/#findComment-2460234 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
No. Not in the least guys- Thunderwolves, of any stripe, are NOT Monstrous Creatures, they follow the cover rules for infantry. Wich, according to pg. 21 is whenever any part of their body is obscured. ANY part. Going to pg. 16, that includes legs, torso, chest, and head. Arms are also included for the riders sake :D. Fenric
I was thinking of gettign the MR Dandy models since they look rather good and I hope I can use them in Tourneys otherwise no biggie can always field something else. I mostly play with friends anyways but it's nice to have the rules correct. Seems like more than me aren't sure about this. Simo429
There was the battle for terra tournament at Warhammer world in May and every wolf player had the Mr Dandy models but I still think the phillipino ones are better Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206235-cover-saves/#findComment-2460337 Share on other sites
Valerian
My understanding with TLOS is that you have to have 50% or more of the model obscured That only applies to Vehicles and Monstrous Creatures. Is it 50% of the squad then or just any amount of them? Yes, just like any form of Cover for a regular unit. Godhead
I was allowed to use the russian thunderwolf models for the 1st two rounds of Ard Boyz. I did call both locations I played at to make sure there wouldn't be an issue with it. So you can use them in tourneys in the US, but you just have to check first.
