Olgerth Istaarn
Between trying to find a sizeable enough lizard to carry a Space Marine and anxiously waiting for the plastic bloodcrushers to come out, I dragged these two minis out of mothballs. They had a different purpose originally, but I got to thinking. They are already mounted on 60mm bases, their wings give them bulk and explain long-distance movement and fleet, and hell, if Blood Angels can have wings, so can the Storm Dragons, damnit. Behold the Dragon Knights. Each will count as a TWC. Yes, I will need to hack them up a bit for WYSIWYG, but you get the idea. I'll paint the backpack wings so they look artificial and metallic (and not muscular and possessed). Whaddaya think? Beware: OOGE PITCHERZ. http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1597/robedfront.th.jpghttp://img683.imageshack.us/img683/9987/sidebysidef.th.jpghttp://img153.imageshack.us/img153/6558/robedback.th.jpghttp://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3834/crusaderback.th.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206273-thunderwolf-cavalry-dragon-style/ Share on other sites
Allerka
Well, I used Dark Elf Cold Ones for my mounts, with Chaos Knight legs, and then regular SM bitz for the rest. Seems to work pretty well for me (still painting them, though, so no pics yet). As for yours, it's a nice conversion. I'm not 100% on using wings, as they're typically associated with jump infantry, so make sure that's clear when you play a game. molsonbeagle
I really like the model, but I think the hoods kill it for me. I just can't see wolves wearing a hood, on top of that the TWC get the +str/tou due to having the wolves/(mount?) as part of their rules and it doesn't feel like that's modeled. Again, not to knock the conversion, i really like it. Just not as TWC. CainTheHunter
They look like Dark Angels' Sanguinary Guard to me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206273-thunderwolf-cavalry-dragon-style/#findComment-2460992 Share on other sites

Olgerth Istaarn
Oh... heh... "I just like your rulebook". I make no pretense whatsoever at being wolfy - it's just SW codex fits my playstyle more than anything else printed in 5th Ed. (You'd think Blood Angels would be a heaven sent for me - shouldn't dragons, you know, fly?.. Alas, I hate the whole concept, and I've been basing my army around the tactical marine since the get go, not the assault). That said, fair point about the steed giving stat bonuses. Something to think about. P.S. You think I'm using lame excuses now? Wait until I get my hands on those new bloodcrushers. Allerka
Yeah, it's the same for me. My Lords of Oblivion have nothing to do with the Wolves, they're even Iron Hands gene-seed. As for the Bloodcrushers, it's actually already been done here, so I don't think people will be too shocked. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206273-thunderwolf-cavalry-dragon-style/#findComment-2461462 Share on other sites
Beef
They look to much like Dark angels, however since you just like the codex rather than the asthetic look of the SW the models look fine in that regard. fivepointedstar
why didnt you use blood angels codex? with the jp, and the hand flamer gleams with dragon potential!. i might nick you idea for a Blood Dragons Ba:dex army. And also by the way your avatar's sm color scheme would work great. Olgerth Istaarn
Oh yes, I know. I was waiting for the BA codex with baited breath, because it held a lot of promise, at least in the days of PDF heresy. I had grand visions, you know. Then when it dropped, I tried my hand at putting together several lists (MUST... HAVE... MEPHISTON... AAARGH!), and realized just how much I missed the ever-so-versatile, mechanized Grey Hunters. I missed them even more when I looked in my army case and found 50 painted boltermen, who couldn't be justified in the jumpy BA lists I was making, not even if I used a shoehorn to cram them in. And then I discovered the potential awesomeness of TWC. "And here we are". By the way, "Storm Dragons Red" is quite a few shades darker than "Blood Angels Red". Heh.
