WG Vrox
lol practical, didn't check the first option suggested from my spell checker and look I found a new favorite word. Let me use it in sentence. My great company has developed piratical tactics to resupply itself. There now it is with me forever. Why do I get the sudden urge to make a lost company that looks like the cast/robots from the movie Ice Pirates. Wispy
I feel our dreadnoughts lack a bit of flavor. I would love if they could take Saga of the Warrior Born. 90% of my complaints would drop. Perhaps, "Swap out dreadnought CCW for a lightning claw and gain saga of the warrior born." sort of like blood talons but with less bull:cuss. Our dreadnoughts should be the ones with lightning claws. Timberhawk
I think I would have been happier having that second DCCW option too. I'd love to have the option for these things but I love our fluff and wouldn't jump ship just for a couple options. The_Betrayed_Spacewolf
wolves arent known for their mech prowess (maybe their fleet probably) however in all the wolf books ive read its always centered on foot work. all our slots are geared towards it. all hqs are powerhouses, elites: cyclone wolf guard, especially the scouts, lone wolf, mounted iron priest. troops: while i dislike both of these option due to lack of range however they are the troops fast: thunderwolves and fenris wolves are both quick distractions that in the case of tw need to be dealt with or in the case of fw a cover screen or bubble wrap heavy: long fangs are wonderful now Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206365-space-wolves-vs-space-marines/page/3/#findComment-2462672 Share on other sites

Brother-Chaplain Gaius
Bjorn is fun, but not real piratical in a generic all comers list. Do you mean practical or piratical? If you actually mean Piratical can you explain this to me... because right now I see space wolves with eye patches and parrots... Ahhh, thats fair enough then. After all, they are going to need at least 2 more HQ's in those droppods to rival a Grey Hunters squad! The Thirst
I dont use TWC, and frankly I havent felt a loss there. Ive done a bit of counts as with an Iron Priest, and it proved a fun unit- but nothing that a well made WG squad couldnt have done for around the same price IMHO. you're missing out there at my last tournament i faced a 3 man/wolf/wolfman? unit of TWC and lets just say 3 TWC geared up for CC more than normal vs 10 standard blood claws=lost of dead newbies! Zynk Kaladin
Stop whining, you have probably the most flexible 'dex out there right now. Your Grey Hunters take a raging dump on regular tactical marines when it comes to an all comers list and don't even get me started on the crap I had to deal with when fighting the Sons of Russ... *shakes fist* You young pups don't appreciate the LEGENDARY BALLS your Wolf King gave you!!! I'm sure he'll take a huge dump on you at the end of Wolf Time just to prove a point. Weve always had a more flexable codex than the vanilla marines... wich Ive always felt is horribly ironic. Marshal Wilhelm
Tacticals -> a reason I don't use C:UM :P I've always thought the name was funny. Tactical. "We are supposedly a shooting squad but we don't do it well...." Oh I get it. Tactical. You've got to be really tactical to get any use out of them. Or Tactical. We aren't good at anything and this is the most flattering name we could think of.... GH and CSM are the most user friendly Marine TROOPS. Maybe that is why I though Guilliman's Codex was rubbish - because on the TT, his TROOPS are... ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206365-space-wolves-vs-space-marines/page/3/#findComment-2463022 Share on other sites

Stormshrug
There are lots of cool things our army *could* have (squads of Wulfen perhaps chiefly among them), but I don't really feel that there's anything missing, particularly in terms of what the Ultramarines have that we don't. Actually, when I read the Blood Angels codex, I was a bit disappointed to find so many repeats from C:SM. In short, I'm for differentiation when it comes to Space Marine chapters, and I think they really got this balance right with the current Space Wolves codex. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206365-space-wolves-vs-space-marines/page/3/#findComment-2463105 Share on other sites
The Thirst
all good point but the actuall meaning of this topic was to suggest whether or not certain units from the other power armour codicies suit our fluff and therefore have a place in our army! eg we are space marines like the smurfs so why dont we/all other special chapters get LoTD? Because fluff and the game are seperate things. Theyre related, and they feed off each other, heck they finish each others sentences sometimes... but theyre different creatures. SWs dont NEED legion of the damned, or Ironclads, or storms. Would they be nice? Most certainly, but they arent needed for the feel and play of a SW force.
