Pre-heresy Blood angels

Hey there everyone! It's been awhile since my last post but I've been working on a Sanguinius sculpt for my blood angels army and I asked myself: If I'm making Sanguinius why wouldn't I paint the blood angels to fit the era of ol'Sangy?

That said, could anyone tell me how their color scheme differed from present? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To my knowledge they didn't change at all, only their armor did. At least that's what it looks like here: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Blood_angels#History

Agreed on the above. Also, don't forget the death company wasn't around then as the flaw didn't negin to manifest until after Sanguinius' death. Sanguard were around though so gold is fine.

Er.. actually if you look closely at the example pre-heresy marine there you'll see hes got a black tactical arrow on his shoulder pad in lieu of the post-heresy BA company marking. The BA Index Astartes article also showed a pre-heresy Blood Angel marine with a 'codex' tactical arrow albeit in yellow instead of black.
