Salamanders Call of the Imperium

Recommended Posts

In this thread you can find the finished models from my Call of the Imperium entries. As of the 30/7 the Vow is complete. Pictures of all three entries are now up in this thread.

Terminator Assault Squad Aigaion, 'The Hundred Handed'.

So named after the giants of Greece from ancient Terran myth, they are the hundred handed, slayers who helped the Gods defeat the Titans. In game-terms they have taken to the field once and have already taken down an Ork Stompa.

Briareus is very well converted & damn spooky, good job on that one. All of your dudes have good poses, dynamic and active. The paint job is good, your skull/ bone/ crux terminati scheme is way cool. My only comment is that the yellow looks a little flat on the black, you may want to try a brighter highlight for the yellow.

EDIT: Good freehand on Briareus, too, that salamander icon is a pain. I like the little drake on his butt-pad.

@ glayvin34 Cheers mate, freehand is not one of my strong points, I'm never going to be anything like Lunchbox in that regard, so I'm pretty happy with my rather limited skills in that regard. I have to admit I didn't realise I hadn't highlighted the yellow on the storm shield. That will change - nicely spotted.

@ Dave It's one of the heads from the OLD chaos warriors kit minus the chaos markings - the ones that never ranked up properly ;)

Very nice!

I do love Salamanders, and I congratulate you on having the patience to highlight the models as well as provide some really cool bases for them.

I have to admit I'm not too fond of the first fellow having to all intents and purposes a flaming arse, but the detail on the flames is great and they are of course the symbol of the Chapter.

The only thing that really bothers me is that Brother Briareus' customised lightning claws are... how can I put this.. wonky. It's great that you've used what looks like dragons' horns to do some serious Salamander-y customisation, but somehow I don't think the masterful artificers of Vulkan's Chapter would let a set of lightning claws out of the workshop without making sure they had a more pleasing symmetry or curve to them.

So, lovely work but you might want to consider a little change to them there claws.

od.

Fantastic work! I loved the two models on top, and found the custom faceplate of brother Gyges and the shoulder plate of brother Cottus to be superb. My gripes would be that the colors look kind of flat in the picture, but that may be the camera, and the custom lightning claws, as others have mentioned, seem a little over the top for me. Still though, excellent conversions and gorgeous models all around.

Vanguard Veteran Squad Enceladus

Saw extensive action on Thracian Primaris during the 13th Black Crusade of Abbadon, hence the 'XIII' and Thracian honour markings worked into Enceladus' personal heraldry. For his actions he was gifted the relic blade known as 'The Flame of Thracia'. His squad have recognised this honour by crafting power weapons mimicking the molten metal glow of the larger blade.

very nice work on the Vanguard, I like the details you've modelled them with, make each Marine look like a 'hero' in his own right. Also, the posing on the jumping marine (the last but one, can't quite make out his name) is brilliant!
