Mattsama
So I'm thinking of running a dread with one Bloodfist and one Bloodclaw. Has anyone playtested it?? Am I better off running either two BS or two BCs?? Thanks!!
BrotherMoses
From my experience just go with two blood talons. The talons do amazing things.
Brother Nathan
i dont think you can take both types, i think you have to take them in pairs...
Lord of Death
yes you replaced both for talons but did think off it myself would be nice
toaae
i dont think you can take both types, i think you have to take them in pairs... This. You trade in your pair of BC for a pair of BT.
LordofDeath11
Yeah, you gotta take them in pairs I'm sure. yes you replaced both for talons but did think off it myself would be nice Damnit dude, we've got that same name.
Volcatus
The wording is pretty clear. "Replace both blood fists with a pair of blood talons" So no mix-and-matching of dread CCW's here.
Jakobus
That and the fact that you have to have two Bloodtalons to use the extra wound ability. So apart from the re-rolling wounds as a lightning claw a single bloodtalon isn't fulling its potential
Mattsama
Yup, I missed the both. My bad... but I didn't have the book in front of me at the time. I would have only wanted it for the rerolled wounds, but I guess just eating through a power armor squad on the turn I charge will have to do... Drachnon
I personally love the blood talons, it makes your dread significantly more effective versus troops. I'm still hoping to see mine take on something that has more toughness then marines I think it will cut its way through big tyranids as well. Morticon
... I think it will cut its way through big tyranids as well. I read a batrep from Koyote where he mentioned he killed a squad of 3 carnies on the charge O_o How insane. To the OP - Personally I see no reason to have a dread without Talons. You dont use dreads to hand-to-hand tanks to death. Like Koyote above I would *never* have considered a dread in a competitive list. Now I wont leave home without one. BLACK BLΠFLY
I also think either a Furioso or DC dread with Blood Talons should be a standard choice for competitive lists. If you can take both (Furioso with pair of Bloodfists) then all the better. I prefer the DC dread over the Furioso since it's got fleet & furious charge built in plus you don't have to spend any extra points for extra armor. I always equip mine with heavy flamers, it's great versus hordes. 0b

Also I am trying to decide if the DC Dread will be equipped with Fists or talons. Against a unit the Talons reign supreme, but the simple fact that if a Landraider is closer and you either don't have the Melta or fail to score a Destroyed result it will be flailing pointlessly

Just remember, too, that you don't have to assault the closest model. Not sure if that helps, though.

You dont use dreads to hand-to-hand tanks . True, but you need to watch out for enemy Dreadnoughts. In a game not too long ago I was playing against BA with my Wolves and was able to intercept his Blood Talon equiped Furioso with my DCCW equiped Venerable. His poor dread with S6 didn't stand a chance against S10.
