I have been wanting to try some of my "older" list with a twist. I like dreads, so I'm gonna try out a list with 3 dreads led by Bjorn. I'm waiting a forge world dread to use as Bjorn, hoping i get it before my game. Anyway, this is the list I'm planning to use. 1750 points Bjorn, plasma cannon Dread, plasma cannon, dccw, heavy flamer Dread, multimelta, dccw, heavy flamer, wolftooth necklace Dread, multimelta, dccw, heavy flamer, wolftooth necklace 5 grey hunters, meltagun, razorback twin las 5 grey hunters, meltagun, razorback twin las 5 grey hunters, flamer, razorback twin las 5 grey hunters, flamer, razorback twin las Land speeder, multimelta, heavy flamer Land speeder, multimelta, heavy flamer Vindicator Vindicator Predator, auto cannon, lascannon sponsons This list is quite alike some of my previous list, It have more dreads, and no thunder wolfs. The plan is to out shoot the enemy, while using the dreadnoughts as a counter assault to protect my vehicles from aggressive units. What do you guys think of this list? I tried a more “normal” wolves list then my regular land raider list. Against the same chaos player that i played last time. My list: 1750 points Wolf priest, LL, MH 8 grey hunter, meltagun, + wolf guard, kombi melta/powerfist, las razorback. 5 grey hunters, meltagun, las razorback. 5 grey hunters, flamer, las razorback 5 grey hunters, flamer, las razorback 5 wolf scouts, meltagun, + wolf guard, kombi melta/powerfist, 5 wolf scouts, meltagun, + wolf guard, kombi melta/powerfist, 5 thunder wolves, powerfist, 3 storm shields, meltabomb, mark of wolfen. Vindicator Vindicator Predator, las sponsons. Chaos list Typhus 3 x 5 terminators, 4 kombi melta, chain fist, heavy flamer. 2 x 7 plague marines, 2 plasma guns, powerfist, icon 2 x 5 lesser daemons. 2 x 6 lesser daemons. 3 x 1 obliterators. We played size ground 4 objectives and pitched battle with chaos taking first turn. Chaos player deploys the plague marines and leaving the rest of his army in deep strike, while I deploy even across the board. Well that did not go so well, now I’m more exposed and he will most likely get allot of melta units down his turn. The Emperor will protect. The rune priest and his squad gets ready to charge the deep striking terminators. The last two games I played against this player he have ended up beating me badly, so it was nice to return the favor. His list really did struggle against me, I think he maybe was expecting my land raider list. He also did roll very badly, with all his deep striking meltaguns only manages to kill a single vindicator. Rune priest, SC, jaws 5 terminators, 3 wolf claws, 2 chain fists, 2 combi melta, heavy flamer, 2 storm shields. 8 grey hunters, melta guns, banner, + wolf guard with combi melta&power fist 8 grey hunters, melta guns, banner, + wolf guard with combi melta&power fist 5 scouts, meltagun, + wolf guard with combi melta&power fist 5 scouts, meltagun, + wolf guard with combi melta&power fist 3 x land raider, Multi melta. With only two scoring units, i need to play smart. and use the terminators and scouts to good effect, while leaving the mop up duty to the grey hunters. Anyway, wish me luck. Skalver Posted October 20, 2010 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Hey, love the army and I am envious as hell of how fast you are painting them. I have one question however about the 4 Land Raider list. Since you buy one LR as a dedicated transport for the Wolf Guard doesn't that mean that only the Wolf Guard squad can start the game inside it. With 4 WG I am guessing you split them off to one per GH pack and start the game with one squad in each LR. What I am wondering though is if you have to deploy one GH squad on foot with that deployment since the only unit that could start the game inside that LR is the Wolf Guard unit which no longer exists. If you deploy with one GH squad mounted in each LR that would be an illegal deployment as near as I can make out. This is no big deal, the raiders are so big that nothing can see the squad anyway, they just jump inside first turn. I played my game yesterday, and i totally tabled him. he used a foot slogging chaos list with 60 marines, and 2 predators and a vindicator. I really thought i had no chance to kill all those marines, but when i got stuck in, it was the wolves that was left standing. It should be noted that 3 of his squads ran of the table even if he had icon of chaos glory, so he was a little unlucky on that one. The paper can still be used in a printer, so i just printed out the templates, cut them out and glued the ting together. Since it's so lightweight, I believe it will work for a thunderhawk very well. Granted working with cardboard have it's own problems but it's a real time saver.
