Custodian Athiair
Hi, basically later this holiday i plan on basing my entire army. I've got the PVA glue and the Burnt Grass Flock (i have sallies so it makes sense). But to me it wouldn't work just having burnt grass on a black base. because it wouldn't look much different. so what do you guys do, do remedy the situation? thanks in advance Athiair  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206484-how-do-you-base-properly/ Share on other sites
Thantoes
Basing sand down first. Paint that to taste and then apply the flock. Nothing special to look at but looks nice and gets the job done. Custodian Athiair
is there anyway to do it without the sand? i've got little money at the moment :/ if not i'm going to GW on saturday hopefully and will pick it up. but otherwise i can't Athiair :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206484-how-do-you-base-properly/#findComment-2463541 Share on other sites
winterdyne
DOn't buy GW sand. Find a park with a sandpit and steal a baggie full. Or buy a sack of sand from somewhere else for less money. Pig Of Sparta
I second this. Someone on my estate had a huge pile sat in their garden a while ago, I asked if I could pince some and the plastic tub full has lasted me for ages. Granted I don't actually finish my mini's that often but when I do I use sand and slate ( which I got for free from a friend who works in construction <_<) James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206484-how-do-you-base-properly/#findComment-2463566 Share on other sites

njm3
GW has various tutorials on basing you might want to check out. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/...23a&start=4 (might have to log in first) Sand is near free, glue is cheap, and you can also find very small rocks, glue those to the base, and paint/drybrush them. lord gunthar
The way i base my sallies is ... Cover the base in sand. Paint the sand scorched brown. Drybrush bestial brown. Drybrush snakebite leather. Scatter with burnt grass flock. Paint the side scorched brown. l33t h0b0
I actually apply the sand and other base material before I prime. the primer will help any small lose bits stick as well once the sand is painted then I flock with the static grass ( if required ) also note: if you are going to have large objects ( helmets, rocks, or other ) on the base glue it down FIRST before the sand is added Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206484-how-do-you-base-properly/#findComment-2466768 Share on other sites
