Converted Bike Lord!

Recommended Posts

I just finished converting this model using parts from both the ork and sm bike kits. I feel like it was a success, and am excited to share.

I am going to base him popping that wheelie. I couldn't resist my urge to model this dude with the frost axe. I tried to put the hand at an angle that appeared natural. I think I may adjust it so it points straight up toward Valhalla.

There were a few difficult parts of this conversion. Most of it was pretty straight forward but it was hard to get the SM legs on the Ork bike. They just weren't meant to fit and are to narrow. I accidentally broke them while I tried to cut them and get them to flex. The other hard part was getting the right distance between the handle bars and his arm. They bars just don't want to sit on the part of the bike where it would fit well. I had to play with it a lot. I slapped some wolf bits on that I liked. I'm wondering if they are to much. Also, I didn't include the exhaust pipes from the ork kit.

if i was to do a lord on bike then i would probably go down the ork bike route, it just looks that much more brutal than the standard marine one as both yours and max dammit's pics show.

will he be getting any green stuffing regarding hair/beard etc?

Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

@Max: That thing is awesome. Makes my axe look a little puny. Where did you get those sick looking guns?

@Krewl: I'm so backed up in the painting department right now! I swear to post the pics once I've done it justice. I've not painted anything in a long time, so I'm practicing on my long fang squads and WG before I start on the characters.

@RADU LYKAN: Love that model. The spear makes a lot more sense than an axe. I'll have to be sure to model some of those as I build the unit. Did you use a head from the Marauder horse kit? It seems I've no choice but to green stuff the head after looking at your bike. I've not ever tried hair before, and will have to learn how to go about it. Anybody got links handy?

yeah i think its a marauder horseman head. doing hair is one of the easiest things to do with green stuff, just plonk a bit on and use something sharp (i use a safety pin for ease of wielding) to drag lines in it. do this a lot of times, keeping in mind the style you are after and eventually you will end up with something you like.
