Tuck in your armor!

Recommended Posts

Ever since I first saw the Sanguinary Guard models, something bothered me to the extreme, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Then I realized: it's the "Six-pack stomach" plates. On normal SM PA, belly armor connects and is "tucked in" to the belt. For the Sanguinary Guard, the stomach armor is "disconnected" from the belt, and looks odd. Does that bother anyone else?

Meh, it just looks more ceremonial than functional - like all the sang. guard equipment. But that just shows how awesome the BA artificers are, to create armor that LOOKS ceremonial, but is actually quite functional.

Personally I love the way the models look. The nipples, the untucked armor, all the inconography, the wings everything just works together so well and really makes the models stand out on the table as they should.

The nipples and the wings are both terrible let downs to me.

Honestly.... of all the wings in the entire WH/40K universe they are the only really really lame versions. They are limp and sagging. I would have to give them normal JP's to feild them just to avoid those horrible horrible wings

The nipples can just be removed though, easy fix, but it does make you wondering what they where thinking. Honestly, if your going to steal a concept from somewhere else get rid of the bad bits.

Doesn't bother me and I actually like the nipples.

Son of Slaneesh spotted!!

But in all seriousness, I'm kinda on the fence about the modles myself...

See I REALLY dont get the hate for the nipples, Tycho and Mephiston have had nipples for YEARS hell dante would have them if he didnt have a giant symbol on his chest.

QFT

I really don't understand what's wrong with the nipples...

They confer an archaic roman-greek look to the armor which is preety cool IMO.

I have one box of the Sang. Guard that will be put together as they are ment to be. The second box I got for getting second at the first round of 'Ard Boyz I have been using to kit bash into other things. I have used several parts to build two Librarians and I think the armor looks really nice painted up in a dark blue with gold trim.

I do not like the sanguinary guard models

is the only box that I do not buy, and I think I never will

I use vanguard veterans in gold armor to represent my sanguinary guards.

agree, I do not like the nipples, nor the six pack... they are WARRIORS, no a He Man fan club!

i have no problems with the moedels them selves, i just hate the armoured legs stance that makes them look like they are about to fall backwards....

And on the nipples thing, well lok at chaplins and the skull thing. its based of something real and is supposed to be fersome to look at. which marines use to teir benifit. now look at how people view nipples, same difference. just shinier. What would be bad would be if someone painted them flesh coloured, and we know some noise marine will eventually...after they over extend at least one of the pecks....

So the greeks and romans can't have been warriors then, what about gladiators? This style of armour isnt some arbitary design by GW its based upon historical examples.
