NExOBLIVISCARIS
So far I have a couple army lists for my Blood Angels and one problem that keeps poping up is Im afraid I will not have enough men to make a decent army. all of my lists are 1500 points and range from having 25 marines and 2 tanks to 40 marines and 3 tanks. Could somebody help me?
JamesI
40 marines and 3 tanks at 1500 is pretty good. My 1850 currently runs 43 marines and 4 tanks. This is an improvment from where it was in the mid 30s for marines and 4-6 tanks.
NExOBLIVISCARIS
well the 40 marines and three tanks is 40 tactical marines and 3 stormravens if that counts for anything. and the 31 marines is dante 10 sanguinary guard 20 tactical marines and 2 stormravens
thor1234
40 marines and 3 vehicles is pretty good, about what i get at 1500 points-2000 points, though I have won games with as few as 20-25 models + vehicles, I think Space Marines can be used in such as way that they don't need so many bodies...... Brother-Captain Devlonir
Still though.. 3 stormravens supported with tacticals? No wonder you feel you have a low model count. Stormravens are not a tactical squad carrying vehicle, use Rhinos for that. We all know the Stormraven is shiney, but to use 3 in a 1500 points army just sounds very.. silly. And at least make it Assault squads then.. Sorry, this sounds a bit ranty.. let me rephrase it: If you try and make a balanced list and not a Stormraven spam list, you will easilly get a higher model count at 1500 points. Go for troops, DC's, Tacticals, Assault Squads (especially!) and possibly even scouts. You will be a lot more diverse and strong than with a Stormraven spam list. NExOBLIVISCARIS
adressing the problem of tactical squads and stormravens i can easily switch out a couple of tac squads for assault squads. the other list i have is 2 stormravens each one with sanguinary guard in it. one has comander dante atached the other has a sanguinary preist and they are supported by either 2 tac squads or a tac squad and a assault squad. Morollan
I've just put together a 1500 point list for an upcoming battle and I have: Librarian Chaplain Sanguinary Priest 10 Death Company 2 x 10 Assault Marines (Foot) 6 Assault Marine (Jump) 1 DC Dreadnought 2 Rhinos 1 Stormraven So that's just under 40 marines including IC's plus 3 'tanks' and a Dread. Aarkon
My 1850 list changes a lot but at most I have only ever had 40 marines in the list. I am building 4 Assault squads without jump packs to use as the core of most of my lists. The least I have taken in 1850 is 30 marines that list also had 10 tanks though LOL. This is the list I am building towards 30 marines with feel no pain is tough enough without being backed up by a virtual armoured company lol. Brother Molon Labe
For me in an 1850 game about 52 marines do the job nicely... No tanks though just Jump Packs
NExOBLIVISCARIS
after hearing about your lists I remember i never really play more then 20-25 marines because i liked the lower model count armies such as Deathwing and Grey Knights.
BLACK BLΠFLY
My current 2k list has less than 30 models total including a dreadnaught and a Stormraven. I don't think you necessarily have to bring that many Marines to do well if you are comfortable playing with a low model count. 0b
NExOBLIVISCARIS
yea im very comfortible with low model count cause i played with my Deathwing army against my friend a while ago (who played IG) in a 1kv1k point game with 13 termies a crusaider and a dread
Brother Nathan
after watching a 2k space wolf army with less than 20 models rip right through a 2k ork horde army i know that numbers aint everything. Of course i prefer the best of both worlds approach. my 1k army has only 24 models... but what else do we expect, we aint smurfs!
Corby
I roll with 22 marines (including 5 terminators) and 7 tanks and 2 skimmers all @ 1750.
lorider2
1 on each objective at game end or one less unit of them killed per game than the opponent. I do not think there is a magic number, as 5 in a landraider can often last longer than 15 footslogging.
Venerable Jazzman
I'm running about 33-36 Marines at 1500: depending on enemy it's 1-2 from jumpy HG/Vanguard/DC, 2-3 RAS with meltaguns, 2x Devs, 4-6 Razorbacks, 1 Whirly or Vindi.
Malus the Destroyer
At 1500+ I have a minimum of 40 Assault Marines with wargear (980 pts) as the basis of my army and add on to it from there.
undeadfilth
lol i took 2nd place in a 1500 pt tourny with a 23 model count:P one of each landraider. one had assualt termies, another had 5 dc with reclusiarch and 2 pw, and the last had 7 assault marines with a priest w/ pw. it rocked face^.^ Oh and I had a dc dread with never ending death claws:P
Zid
I run around 30 marines (average) 1500+ points. At 1500 I run: 1 librarian w/ JP/rage/shield - 125 10x Assault marines - 1x PF/2x Melta - 235 pts 10x Assault marines - 1x PF/2x Melta - 235 pts 10x Assault marines - 1x PF/2x Flamer - Ride in LRR w/ MM/EA - 455 2x Sang Priests - 1x JP/PW, 1x barebones - 140 pts 2x Land Speeders w/ MM - 120 pts thats 1310, and from here I pick and choose. Sometimes I cut 10 pts for a raven, sometimes I cut the AM squad in the raider for a raven w/ Death co. Sometimes I cut stuff to fit 3 Dreads with TLAC's. But my base list almost always has 33 models+.
