Armored Assault

I love armor.

It appeals to me as one of my favorite parts of wargaming. I'll never drive a tank in my life but I have a small but growing collection of tanks in my SW army.

Currently I own.

2 Rhinos

1 Razorback/Rhino

1 Vindicator

1 Land Raider Redeemer

1 Venerable Dreadnought

I want to add to my collection but Im torn. Do I get another Vindicator or Land Raider? What about Predators? They look cool but I really like the destructive capabilities of Vindicators. I kinda want to do a full three Predator list but is that viable?

What do you think? What should be my next purchase?

i use a predator and a vindicator in tandem, the pred takes out enemy armour/monstrous creatures while the vindicator takes out just about anything else. combined with rhinos/razorbacks full of grey hunters charging forward it gives your opponent a lot to think about
If you're going to get another tank I think a Vindicator would be better. In a normal game you are not likely to use more than 1 Raider. On the other hand 2 or even 3 Vindicators are more than useful. One will be targeted like there's no tomorow. 2 will do the job and 3 may be a bit of an overkill but none will bleme you for shooting 3 Str10 large pies. Of course I can see you ending up with more raiders and vindicators than you will ever need but that's another story. Most of us here do things like that. If cash is yor problem then get yourself a Vindi and job's done.

Firstly, do you want to run a land raider-heavy list? Some people like to run three or even four of the suckers for heavy armor overload. If that appeals to you, get another couple of land raiders. I would either go with one of each or magnetized sponsons so that you can switch them out.

If land raider spam isn't your thing, I would likely go with a predator. Another vindicator or razorback wouldn't be a bad idea, but a predator with lascannon sponsons (although I once again would recommend magnets here) is the best way of dealing with those elusive targets quickly and decisively. Redundancy and plan-resilience are important, no doubt, but you should first make sure that you have all of the tools at your disposal that you'll need to deal with threats. Charging down the field with lots of close-range destruction is great, but make sure you have long-ranged fire to cover your advance and deal with fast units that can avoid your massive hammer blow or try to lure you into a disadvantageous position or formation. A predator and that venerable dread you mentioned can perform this task quite admirably, but long fangs are quite good at it too. It's your call.

Okay, if you want to really run Land Raider spam, here's the cheesy way to do it:

Logan, takes WG who get 1 Land Raider

Heavy Support for 3 Land Raiders

then as allies [i run em as Navigators from House Bellisarius]

An Inquisitor lord with retinue gets 1 Land Raider as transport HQ

another Inquisitor with retinue also gets a Land Raider as transport [elite]

as of June 30 you can still take them as Allies per the What's new at GW's website

[with permission if you have the print codex for DH]

Yup, if you got the points and want to hear your opponents scream

Captain Denaro - No these are all for 40K. I have been playing since 1989 and have collected a little here and there ever since. Currently I am big into Apocalypse games where I can use as much of my armor as I like (check out the siegeworld link in my SIG). Also the new Spearhead expansion is quite fun as well.
