Characteristics of each Traitor legion;

 

Alpha Legion: Deceiving, untrustworthy but loyal in heart, believing the ends justify the means. Tragic Heroes.

 

Black Legion: Misguided, twisted, believing they were betrayed. Misguided sons.

 

Death Guard: ridiculously tough and resilient, turned to chaos to survive Warp pox. Survival instinct.

 

Emperor Children: Outlandish perfectionists, Ruled by a demon under the guise of a prince. Loyal to there commanders till the end.

 

Iron Warriors: Spiteful, Trench warfare specialists, Minds like an Iron cage. Brooding children.

 

Night Lords: Scaremongers, psychological warfare specialists. Unloved heroes

 

Thousand Sons: Psykers beyond equal, users of forbidden practises. Men of dust.

 

Word Bearers: Religious fanatics, worshippers searching for the greatest entity. The true heretics.

 

World Eaters: Bloodthirsty, enraged, crazed. Bloodthirsty in the extreme.

I would just like to point out that World Eaters are in second despite not having books (post heresy), being generally presented as one dimensional boring characters, and not having particularly good game rules. This makes them the true winners of the poll, imo.

Man AL even don`t have post heresy books (in fact they have ONE book at all) AL had one char by FW (which is now captured by DA) and game rules for representing AL are even worse, WE have coverage from FW in newer edition than AL and in rulebook they have zerks at lest.

The reason why the Alpha Legion's winning the poll while there's all of like, two people who admit to voting for them is because of all the Space Marine forces any of you have ever seen on the table, fully half of them were actually Alphas in disguise.

That and AL don't have anything that signifies them as being them except chosen. No cultists, HQs that can infiltrate, troops that can infiltrate, etc.

 

Good point on the AL Dues... almost makes me want to build a BA army and call them alphas.

As to the topic, I like my Iron Warriors. Mere ten troops can hold up vs 130'million, greatess segie fighter (despit what the Imperial Fist say ;) ) around. Also the novel Storm of Iron show how cool we are :tu:

Can't belive next year will seen my Iron Warriors army being ten year's worth of collecting.

I'm a Word Bearers man through and through.

 

We have something the other Traitor Legions lack to a certain degree: faith. Lots and lots of it.

 

Also, while the Iron Warriors have Honsu and the Night Lords have Zho Sahaal, we have Marduk and Burias-Drak'shal.

Funny, most long time Iron Warrior fanboys (myself, some others on this forum) have basically disowned Honsou and like the IW mostly for how they were portrayed in their Index Astartes and not for Honsou's emo antics. Actually I feel that pretty much all Legions that were further explored in novels have suffered some badass decay from their original descriptions with the only exceptions being Abnett's Alpha Legion and A D-B's Abaddon/Black Legion.
