I'd say his special technique is called "years of experience, talent, a good brush, a steady hand and very much patience".

 

Seriously, it takes a lot of practice and patience to be that good, but there is no "secret technique". There are only so many ways to put paint on a model, after all.

 

If you want to be that good learn as much as you can, listen to criticism or advice and paint every miniature to the best of your ability, constantly pushing your skills.

 

 

 

You can register on CMON and ask him yourself for any advice he might be able give you. :angry:

I think that he is one of the non-metal metallics painters. Just google for that term. Summary is that you use paints that are um.. non-metalic... to represent metal shades... kinda how the pixels in your monitor do a good job displaying silver/gold/etc by using various combinations of blue/yellow/etc (depending on the metal).

If you were actually looking for something like NMM then just take a look at CMON's article section. Except for some historical/military modeling painting techniques all of the "usual" stuff is covered there.

 

This thread might be useful for you as well if you want to know something about NMM.
