Hmmmm intriguing indeed :)... On a serious note yeah it would be a unit of extreme Killy death though there is the chance that the unit could kill itself and with every guy having a plasma pistol the unit will cost about 250pts+ so depends if you want to take that risk...

I've been spending those points on a Chapter Banner for the extra attack in CC.

 

That with the death mask combo has worked well for me a couple of times against Orks, IG and Chaos.

 

At five points less I'm going to give a plasma squad a go though, just to see how well they stand up. Math to come!

If I were going to put the 50 points into special pistols for the squad I'd opt for Infernus Pistols over Plasma. They will still insta vaporize pretty much all infantry and really threaten most vehicles even outside "melta" range. The 6" max range isn't that big of a deal because it's likely I won't be within 6" unless I intend to charge the unit I'm shooting at anyway so the 12" range of the plasma pistol is't too much of a bonus, unless I'm sloppy and misjudge my distance for the charge.

24" threat of the plasma pistols is what intrigues me. With 2+ saves and possibly a priest (honorguard plasma squad ftw? Or more realistically a melta squad. Have them pop it then SG light then up and charge. Good bye th/ss terms! The 12 inch range would also help to try for rear/side armor shots. Again I think the 2+ helps eliminate the worry of gaping yourself.

 

Plus 5 plasma pistols is cool.

That was my Sang Army.

I run a 5 plasma squad w/ a priest so burning myself isn't a big issue.

The reason one of my squads is equipped this way........

1.) Eldar Avatar. His rule says he's immune to melta weapons

2.) Dark Eldar Night Shields. their rule says they subtract 6 inches off of your range. Thereby negating IPs altogether.

 

With 5 plasma pistols a priest and a libby that squad can hunt light armor or MCs just as well as Dante and his squad.
