Get off my lawn!

Grey Mage

Recommended Posts

So, Im thinking of bringing this to a kill team round-a-bout that my group is doing:

Venerable Dreadnaught- Heavy Flamer, Extra Armor, Plasma Cannon- 200pts.

Special Rule used? Turbo-boosters- and yes, he has been given a jump pack just for this occasion.

Thoughts? Pitfalls? I havent played the new version of KT yet.

I actually used a Ven. Dread when the new KT just came out. The problem was I was facing Wraithguard and a warlock. The problem I ran into was only being able to shoot and maybe kill 1 guy a turn. Oh and then he immobilized me and sat back and shot. But against a KT that isn't all anti-armour it should turn out ok.

Sat back and shot? Wraithgaurd only have 12" guns!

Yea but with me immobilized he knew I couldn't charge. Plus their guns are BS lol. So many glancing hits so many turns spent not shooting :(

Im just saying, six models with 12" ranges... they probly shouldnt ever have gotten into range. What weapon were you using?

There are a lot of issues with using vehicles in Kill Team, not least because of the problem of the Leadership Test for forces running away.

After three or four rounds of Kill Team, my gaming group decided to ban the use of vehicles completely, as they meant that any units without an anti-tank weapon were effectively useless against lists containing only armoured targets. You'll probably win, but won't make many friends in the process! :(

If you insist on taking the Dreadnought though, I'd swap the Plasma Cannon for an Assault Cannon - The ability to engage four targets with a single gun is just obscene.

Eh, this is just for fun and giggles- I know Im facing a group of immortals, A sterngaurd squad with heavies, some nids, and some meganobz... it should be anything but gauranteed.

I don't think you can use turbo-boost in kill team can you?

and what is this about a Jump Pack?

Aren't kill teams supposed to be stealthy or something like that? I could be totally wrong because I have no idea what the exact rules are. I never knew a Space Wolf dreaddy could be stealthy :\

offcourse we can! why do you think we only awake bjorn every 1000 year? for him to tell stories? no! we have to keep that guy asleep or he would sneak out the fang!!

Turbo-boost is a universal special rule, and you can give up to three models any single USR you want. The Jump Pack is the modeled representation of this rule.

You get 0-1 elite, 0-2 troops and 0-1 FA slot, 200pts, and the bonuses above- each model functions as its own unit.

Stealth is not required.

I actually think thats a great Idea.

thought Id go with a jump pack and furious charge if I could.

Well you could give that to a single wolf gaurd, but not applicable to dreads.

I'd keep the assault cannon, or take the multi-melta instead of the plamsa cannon.

It might just be my track record, but I only find 'extra armor' useful on transports carrying my HQ ( or characters for that matter ).
