Ventris Gard and Kayvaan Gard

Well my two dreads Kayvaan and Ventris (both named after well known marines back when I was about say 14) have seen service now on fields of battle for now in total 2 years and still counting. While not pressed into service straight away they hit the tables like a ton of bricks: all the way through being even normal dreads, they earned their venerable status and now being proudly presented in the new venerable dreadnought kits I thought it was time to give them their appearance prior to being dreadnoughts because I like the narative of it all. In total they will be leading a tactical squad but they ain't important.

(note his use of a shield, I believe this would count as a pavase for a marine in a sense)

Please note these are the models in their most raw form, any paint on them now is more likely going to change when done. The 'co-sarge' title for Kayvaan is that he actually helps Ventris by giving tactical overviews of the battlefield from his vantage point and tends to have better overall battlefield awareness while ventris has poor battlefield awareness but impressive awareness in combat of his opponents weaknesses. In total kayvaan is ventris' personal advisor and in sense true sarge of the squad but prefers being armed with his favourite heavy bolter: 'Firefight'.

Quick update: Kayvaan has been first to the details however not by much. His shield is currently under-debate, currently using a purple ink on it (and I think I found out how viva metallica was done I think!) and considering doing my favoured green and purple colour on it, half of the shield green half purple. Reason being I want Kayvaan to look like he's holding his families own personal coat of arms (while he came from the deadly part of my chapter 1st company, they still had coat of arms to show which family they were from).

However it is somewhat debateable, I like the inks but not sure. I would like the shield to look special but not over the top silly but at the same time not hidden away with the same colours as my army. However there will be battle damage so not sure.

 

Ventris is currently sitting at the side with boltgun metal over his base coat on areas he needs it. nothing much in total.
