Alternative Conversion Bitz/Minis

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of reliable sites conversion bitz or full miniatures, specifically for daemons/chaos marines, that are not related to GW? I've been looking at Reaper minis and Ultraforge, but I want:

1) To get the full spectrum of possible sites

2) To learn which sites are reliable or not

Time to dig up my bookmarks!

I usualy swear by bitsandkits.co.uk

great range, good prices, great delivery and I think they've fixed their communication problems so they're my number 1

Most others are reliable with the exception of bitkingdom.com

they took months for my order once and ive never went back

other decent ones are maximini, dragon forge designs, battle wagon bits and secret weapon minitures

Hope this helps

Here are a few that I know with what I remember about their range in no particular order. I'll just post all I can think of and let you decide which ones you like.

http://cart.blackorc.com/

shoulderpads

http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/

BIG wolves, robed legs that would fit under temies, several different sets of heads

http://sciborminiatures.com/

shoulderpads, torsos, heads shields and some complete "SF Knight" miniatures

http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/

Helmet crests

All kinds of stuff from kits for vehicles to shoulderpads and conversion kits for characters

http://www.maxmini.eu/

BIG wolves, several different heads, furcapes/pelts, their steampunk knight helmets, several different weapons and shoulderpads that could be used for preheresy termies.

They have quite a lot of weapon packs and heads. They just have a lot of everything, you can order parts and sprues from (I think) miscast minis as well there (called boneyard).

http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/

again heads and weapons, shields and wings. A complete range of SF dwarves and some fantasy football minis.

http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/

Some of the heads from there have been used on quite a few scouts posted here lately.

They also sell heads separately, but I think they might be better suited for IG models in terms of size and style from what I've seen. But they do have some zombie heads, which might be interesting for chaos/DG players. They slso have some other crazy miniatures that might be worth looking into.

http://shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/

also several separate head kits and all kinds of parts for vehicles.

The demons here will probably interesting for anybody who wants to look at something else than the usual GW sculpts.

They have a nether hound and are about to release a demon champion. Interesting for chaos players and everybody who plays fantasy. I have several of their miniatures and the quality is just great. ( Felix Paniagua sculpted the dwarf kings, vostroyans and the old pointy vet sarge for GW.)

http://www.urbanmammoth.com/

Their junkers or gladiators might be interesting for anybody looking for something to use in some wild conversions. I think I have seen the Legionaries shields used on SMs before.

There are a lot of other companies to who produce great miniatures too, these are just a few link to some that might be more compatible with the GW models/iconography from what I've seen. Hope that helps.

Another to consider is Privateer Press. They run an online bits order service of the stuff they make -- the "Full Metal Fantasy" Warmachine/Hords/Iron Kingdoms fantasy setting.

Lots of interesting stuff that could be useful in adding a "Steampunk" aspect to your conversion projects. Well, it's not strictly Steampunk as it lacks the "Victorian" element that Steampunk typically has.
