Brother Puma
Edit 2010.23.07: Colours have been decided. Cheers! Greetings Brothers, I am in the process of building a Codex army, but am lost for ideas on a colour scheme. I created the examples below with the Space Marine Painter (brilliant stuff, by the way! Thanks to the creators!), but am unsure of just which one I like best. I'll develop some fluff for the army later, but I chose the chapter "Knights of Eternity" (or Angels Penitent, as I may decide I like better) since there is hardly any information provided for them in their Lexicanum entries (found here: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Knights_of_Eternity) and would allow for me to create their colours, invent my own fluff, and select other chapter specific traits. Although the Knights of Eternity are presumed lost, I intend to revive the chapter, and I'm sure you'll find it interesting just as to how I go about doing so. I'll post the story once I finish it. In the meantime, please help me decide which paint scheme to go with. I know some of these are similar to other armies out there (eg. Flesh Tearers), but I really like the combination of grays, reds, purples, and black. The goldish colour of the helmet and hand of the eighth Marine is indeed gold, while the helmet and shoulder pad of the third are Bleached Bone. Any C&C is appreciated, and if you have any other suggestions for colours, feel free to make them! Cheers! - Brother Puma 1. http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/9853/spacemarine1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206696-knights-of-eternity-angels-penitent/ Share on other sites
Brother Puma
Placeholder for fluff on how the Militis Eternus came to be... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206696-knights-of-eternity-angels-penitent/#findComment-2465951 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Tri-color looks more cohesive on the tabletop. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206696-knights-of-eternity-angels-penitent/#findComment-2465978 Share on other sites
Spartans
IMO I like marines to be one colour mainly with a shoulder and a knee a differant colour and then you can use the third colour for the insignia and chapter symbol on the shoulders and number on the knee. Also i would save the gold helmet and glove for someting special like vetrans get gold instead of white. But if I had to pick one of your colour sets above I would go for no. 6 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206696-knights-of-eternity-angels-penitent/#findComment-2465998 Share on other sites
Captain Conrad
I prefer no. 3 but as mentioned you might have trouble setting apart vets. Brother Puma
Thanks for the feedback thus far. I agree with both of you with regards to distinguishing veterans. The original idea behind a few of the designs with contrasting helmets was that they would serve as the veteran units, so we're on track there. I definitely like numbers 1 and 3 best (I have a soft spot for purple though! Maybe as trim for the second company or something...), and I think I'll proceed with those as my inspirations. Just as an aside, why was this moved to the Liber Astartes? I may not understand just what makes a codex chapter clearly... Could someone clarify for me? Thanks! Brother Puma
Colours have been decided. Now I'm on to writing the fluff and finishing a few models for photos and critique.
