ChaplainIktinos
About a year ago I had this same idea and. Then my computer broke I now have one again and I was wondering if anyone was intrested I found my old topic and found it was quite succesful after I left. The idea of this is to have multiple people contribute to the chapters fluff and history and to the scheme ect anyone intrested? heres so far Name: Star Dragons Basic Belief: Strength Through Focus. Focus Through Battle. Battle in the Name of the Emperor. Each and every Star Dragon believes that the best way to serve the Emperor is to perfect their skills and focus their minds. They view Battle as the ultimate forge for such tests, striving to defeat the enemies of the Emperor as efficiently as possible, never losing focus. They view the weapons they wield as extensions of their own bodies, and strive to master them as they strive to master themselves. Home Planet: Feudal Age planet, covered almost entirely by water, with island chains that are each ruled by a semi-independent clan. Constant storms and typhoons ravage the world, and the few calm moments are filled with battles. Honor duels are common, as a high priority is placed on marital skill, and it allows blood debts to be paid, sans the blood. However, true battles often take place as well, as competition over the resources and land would be fierce during the non-storm periods. (We didn't discuss this, but it makes sense, similar to Fenris) Discipline is highly enforced, with each warrior/clan member striving to attain physical and mental perfection through their martial art. Recruitment: "Night of One Thousand Strikes" The Clans send their finest students(all children)to a designated Isle, most likely the home of a temple order, or something similar, where they do battle. The Star Dragons recruit the most promising from this night of combat. thank you shinzaren Edited August 20, 2010 by ChaplainIktinos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206720-group-chapter/ Share on other sites
RagingGriffon
I'd be interested in working with people and see how it goes. It is the summertime and the Liber is dreadfully slow. I am deployed, working a night desk job, so i am totally down for something to get my creative juices going. Sigismund Himself
My advice would be to give at least a week for people to express interest and decide upon the expectations/rules/guidelines of the project before jumping straight into the creative stage. You need a solid base to launch from for group chapter projects otherwise they tend to just lose steam without completing an IA. ChaplainIktinos
Every one should just start throwing ideas around I have a desert chapter in mind one where on the home world the tribes studied a native creature to the planet(dune mantis) and learned their swordsmanship From the ancient creatures....taking great pride in assault marines.... Dark Apostle Thirst
Swordsmanship? From Creatures? Did I read that right? By the way, I would like to jump in this as well... And a tan color seems appropiate, and possibly a sword as their emblem? ChaplainIktinos
Yes swordsmanship and combat tactics from a large species of praying mantis like creature.....ill explain later but a sword would be good tan good as well I was thinking of desert names and I came up with mirage blades.....what's your idea? Madwolf Shadowmane
So fighting technique is reverse grip short swords, one in each hand. I would like to join too. ChaplainIktinos
Well that's my idea as I said if you have one say it and a dune mantis is like a normal mantis but its larger and has one scythe thing picture a kinrath kind of from KoToR... Grand Admiral Thrawn
Animals don't have technique other than the instinct for preying and survival. Not sure how Space Marines could learn from giant mantises other than emulating some characteristics. ChaplainIktinos
....martial art techniques were learned from studying animals .... do you have an idea? As I've asked most people id love to hear them not sarcastically.....and the tribals studied the techniques and continued to some of the techniques as astrates... RagingGriffon
If we are thinking about a Space Marine chapter that emulates a beast's fighting style (and I really don't want to mix sci-fi universes), then we need to take a second here. Why do they take those characteristics? Is it going to be a Shaolin Monk type style? I am totally down for that, as the mantis Warriros are kind of revealing themselves to be that way in BL books. Before we jump into fighting styles, we need to think of themes. I see people are gravitating towards desert. OK. Cool. Well, desert people are usually nomads, hearty people, and good hit and run fighters. So, how does that incorporate into martial arts? I don't know. Discuss amongst yourselves. MrCasperTom
If something along the lines of desert then RG is correct, along the lines of the its people are commonly associated with nomands. So maybe the chapter is fleet based, whether by design or by the lose of the homeworld. You could maybe tie it in with the idea that they originally were situated on a desert world but that was lost for [insert reason here] and, instead of trying to find a new one, they began to believe that the 'nomand life' make you far less vulnerable and effectively see space as their desert. Shinzaren
Did you read Horus Rising recently? Cause this sounds surprisingly like the Megarachnid they fight on Murder... Sword arms, and what not.... EDIT: Put in spoiler tags, sorry bout that. ChaplainIktinos
Please don't ruin the book for me I'm on page 65 and I've heard nothing of sword arms or mantis warriors sword arms sounds like sgt.tellos....but as far as martial arts goes that wasn't exactly what I was going towards I was making a point that creatures have been studied and combat styles have been developed from them....so are we going in the desert direction if we are fleet based sounds good because. There home world was destroyed ehhh ill try to think of a reason you guys try too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206720-group-chapter/#findComment-2467713 Share on other sites
Ferrata
Before you jump into this, I would suggest you read the following threads: Imperial Castellans The First Thread The Main Creation Thread Incarnation One Incarnation Two The Final Incarnation War Bearers The Second Thread The Latest Incarnation Dark Sons The Third Thread The Vote Chapter Creation Final Article So, we have done these before and they have produced chapters. To be honest, I did run with the Castellans and Dark Sons after the group effort had finished, but their creation was very much a group project. These work well. My main suggestion would be: Use a GW chapter Why? Because it allows you to skip the name of the chapter and the colour scheme, two parts about a chapter that could take forever and a day to sort out. ChaplainIktinos
Thank you would you mind helping out? hmmm after looking at the choices you gave the imperial castellans id like to do the knights of gryphonne as I like the scheme and knightly orders as I plan on using the chapter that is created....what GW chapter do you guys want? Ferrata
I don't mind helping out. I would suggest the best approach for this point is people to post images of GW chapters and go "How about we do this with this chapter" and you do that for a while. Then either through natural discussion or a vote, a victor will emerge and you can start developing certain points. Ferrata
Chillax. Liber is a slow board, you ain't going to get 300 replies in two days. Don't force this, people will join in as they feel. Plus, it is a very slow time for the board right now as Europeans are at work/school, as is most of Asia. America is still in bed...not many people to respond bar those board at work (actually, most people in the UK will be on their way) and those with nothing to do today. Look around at other threads, go read some chapters in the Librarium - enjoy yourself and relax. Oh, and take your shoes off.
