I like to think of the Liber as the old men's club, where we sit in smoking jackets, and high-back leather chairs, grumbling about people who try to mix gene-seeds and successors to the Space Wolves.

 

I am going to have to look at some GW Chapters. I know you are making the models of this Chapter, and you like knights, but since this is a collabo we have to consider all the other people. I think we should put our top three themes we like. I'll start.

 

- Martial Art / Shaolin

- Deathcult type

- Knight

Yes, but you need a theme fist. Obviosuly, if we go with "Knight" theme, then Mortifactors will not be a good choice. See what I am getting at?

RagingGriffon is suggest another possible pathway, almost the reverse of what we have done in the past. He is suggesting you come up with a theme you wish to explore as a group and then find a suitable GW chapter to plonk this theme onto. How I have run it in the past is that we suggested random GW chapters (based on cool colour schemes or names) and discussed what themes we could explore if we chose them. Neither method is better than the other, they are just different.

Martial Art / Shaolin, I vote for this particular theme unless we are going for the chapter first. I really like the whole fighting technique from the large Mantis idea.

I was thinking the discipline, warrior ethos, zen type aspect of the who martial arts thing. Not the smash destroy of Western warfare, but more tailored elemental mystical level of war.

Samurai are, at their heart, Japanese Knights. I think Griffon is more focusing in on the spiritual part of the monks/martial arts. Honing the body, mind, and soul through training and battle. Using their spirituality as the basis of everything. Devoting themselves to a single ideal with all their being. That type of martial arts based chapter.

Hey guys, just read through the thread and i'm in. Well, taking everything said i'll throw some stuff out there. I think we should pick a less known Chapter off of Lexicanum or here and flesh them out, theres plenty off them. Now, I believe I read someone mentioned unarmed combat. Im not sure how they meant it but I have had an unarmed combat marine theme idea before. Why not? There are CC focused chapters out there and this is the same but how do we make them just as effective? Reinforced gauntlets and vambrances maybe? (The vambrace is the forearm part of armor right?) Or maybe our marines carry twin powerfists? What do you guys think?

I don't know. Maybe the fact that they have to keep it a secret, and to mantain their appearance of normality, they need to find their 'zen'. Then they realize this can also be applied to combat... Bada bing.
