Agemann
Hi! I have been playing Ultramarines for awhile and got this model recently. I have a youngbloods painting competion coming up. If you have an advice you would like to give, please do so. Thanks! http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4140/4809496710_bf4f71d04a.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/4808872685_9e43d26aa6.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4808871891_746b8401b3.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/4808871169_8fe0a371aa.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206772-fw-ultramarines-ven-dreadnought-tips-please/ Share on other sites
wokkers
its an awesome paintjob for someone who qualifies for the youngbloods :woot: i would sugeest maybe cleaning up the highlight on the armour edges, making them a little sharper, not so chunky. the writing on the arms could do with being a little smaller as well. good luck in the comp ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206772-fw-ultramarines-ven-dreadnought-tips-please/#findComment-2466855 Share on other sites
whackozacko
i agree about cleaning up the highlights on the armor. the tyranid armor plates could use some work in my opinion. i dont think the highlights should be so stark. but it might work if you do the highlighs mor slashy and vertical like so http://kofler.dot.at/40k/units/Tyranid_Hive_Tyrant_2.gif not the same color but you get the idea. i would also suggest making the script finer. sorry if it sounds like im picking it apart, but im judging it as i would judge a competition. but overall i think you did well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206772-fw-ultramarines-ven-dreadnought-tips-please/#findComment-2466992 Share on other sites
Agemann
Thanks! I agree, the highlights definately need to be cleaned up. I was thinking about using a micron pen for writing on the purity seals. Maybe on the armor too. I will clean the nid up too. Timboli
maybe give the white some shades. i lookes really flat without depth also redo the white on the standart because there is some blue you can see under it the rest is pretty good so ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206772-fw-ultramarines-ven-dreadnought-tips-please/#findComment-2467669 Share on other sites
Alienerd
Well you beat me, 2 years ago I didn't get round to even finishing the build for youngbloods, no chance of falling at that hurdle for you however. The paint smoothness is definately a strong positive point, its not too thick, just right. With a micro pen, I use one too, and be warned that sometimes the ink will pool so with be thicker in other places than others, but another pass should tidy that problem up Best of luck, and if u are doing the youngbloods at GD UK, might see you there. I'm not entering, just attending Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206772-fw-ultramarines-ven-dreadnought-tips-please/#findComment-2468452 Share on other sites
Innus Bade 9
One thing that I would do to help the Banner stand out more is changing the color of the Tyranid. Something Bright like red, yellow, orange or even a green. The model is looking great keep at it.
