JamesI
The benefits of the Thunder Hammer aren't always worth the extra points. But if you think you will be facing monsterous creatures, hammers are a good buy. Corby
The benefits of the Thunder Hammer aren't always worth the extra points. But if you think you will be facing monsterous creatures, hammers are a good buy. this. And they can also be good against vehicles if you don't manage to destroy them. And Independent characters with eternal warrior. But Generally the 5 points saved can be spent elsewhere. CainTheHunter
I like to field at least one hammer in PA Wolf Guards - usually my scout pack leader gets this. As for TDA WG, at least one TH/SS is a no brainer's choice. Hotspur
Depends on the situation, but I normally favor powerfists. No, they don't look as nifty as the hammer, but they're effective against most MCs and vehicles except land raiders and monoliths. I find that the extra points for the hammers are usually better spent elsewhere. A good alternative to the hammer, if you know you're going to be facing heavy armor, is the chainfist. It doubles strength like the powerfist/hammer, but you get an extra 2D6 against armor. The only downside is the chainfist is the same price as the hammer, so they're pretty expensive. The chainfist is usually a situational weapon, though, as it only gets its 2D6 against armor, whereas the hammer is useful against most units. Hope that helps. PKAwolf
powerfist all the way (PA wolf guard), unless the thing holding it is going to be expensive anyways (TWC, battle leaders, TH/SS unit) the I splurge on the hammer Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206813-hammer-vs-powerfist/#findComment-2467397 Share on other sites
