yeah, unless it is cast in clear resin or something there is no real way around that i guess.

i am happy with him though, a suitable gaming piece.

A long time ago (around the time of The Return of the King release) there was a clear resin frodo released by GW. Cost a tonne and was really rare though.

yeah i remember that. I remember seeing a clear balrog that was painted up and had lights fitted inside too...

But back on topic, i like the look of it, certainly a new take on the model

thanks guys, i am glad my idea gets approval.

i am actually thinking about doing a unit of LOTD like this, would make them stand out, easy to recognize (specially in an army with other black marines) and it is dead easy to paint too.

right now i am contemplating if i should do the flames a bit different, start them with yellow and instead of orange and red use light and dark green. that would just leave the blood in the cup as a contrast.

May I ask how you got that "jade" look? I'm still in the process of becomming a decent painter no tmore and would love to use your technique for some weapons if you don't think that is hogging your style :)

If I do recall correctly the order is:

Prime White

Wash Thraka Green

Dry Brush Scorpion Green

Dry Brush Skull White

Or at least that's how I think he's done it.

Nice work Somar.

If I might be so bold, rather then change the sword, why not work on the cup? Tamiya Clear Red works wonders if you want a rather realistic look. Basically stipple brush it on, wait 30~ seconds, stipple brush again. Then after ~5 mins, add some chaos black to the TCR to get a dark red, and stipple brush that on. It gives a textured/layered look. I believe someone actually wrote a librarium topic on it.

That is a very nice interpretation of the Sanguinor. One point of critisism, the blood in the chalice is just a red spacl in my eyes, especially compared to the rest of the painting. I would suggest removing is or give more depth to it.
