Enjoy! Please note that this model is REALLY old as well as the fact that I have a terrible camera. I might be getting a new one soon though. It's pathetic....(Anyone have any simple but nice formulas for camera-work they'd like to share?) -_-

ive noticed a trend here.. since Brother tyler suggested that the wird 'smurf' is acceptable for trash talking, every poster has used it.

Is it that no-one is creative enough to find another?

But to be honest this kind of thing is beneath many of us haughty Ultramarines.. although i am surprised that most of the 'alternate' posters are black templars fans.

The word "haughty" is usually used in a negative manner, meaning disdainfully proud; snobbish; scornfully arrogant; supercilious. Were you being deliberately self-deprecating? :(

As for the term "smurf", while I abhor it, it is the most commonly used innocent insulting nickname for the Ultramarines. Are there others that you're aware of that are both family-friendly and suitable in the context of friendly trash talking? Remember, this is all about having a little fun, so it's good to pull the sticks out of our orifices once in awhile and not take ourselves so damn seriously. :)

Seriously, whens the last time you saw a SW player crying out at being called a space puppy, or even just that they played 'puppies'.

Frankly Ive used the term 'smurf' for a decade now- because theyre 1" tall blue men. Nothing insulting about it to 99% of ultramarine players.

I like Radeus- the helmet is a nice touch, and you dont see alot of sword and board models these days.

Actually yes i was... perhaps i was being too obscure?

I have no issues with the term smurf i actually like it strangely enough.. the best term ive heard is power smurfs.

wat i was saying was there was no creativity to the trash talk....

I guess I am one of the 1% that strongly dislikes it. Although I recognise that most of the time that it is used on the B&C is in a joking manner, virtually every time I have heard it used in person it is not. To me, it is a derogatory term that says that I have wasted the time and energy that I have put into my Ultramarines. <_< However, as Brother Tyler has said, in context it is acceptable, and I agree with our esteemed Admin.

And I must ask what's wrong with that? ;) :D

If i was deliberately beig insulting i would be worse that calling you lot smurfs. though as we are brothers in arms i wont go further. Thats just how i see most of the banter between the actual chapters in the fluff. we see the smurfs as good tacticians but are a wee bit up themselves because tey know it. wheras the other main chapters have major flaws they fight to over come to serve the empy. blood have the rage, wolves the woulfen and the hark angels have the whole wearing of the skirts... And you lot being bue makes it a wee bit harder to insult kindly as how much is there to link you too that we already havent. smurfs is obvious, then theres the blue boys with the paints etc, then theres the sky... flowers, which would be daft comparing you to flowers as they come in all colours including red and gree and black etc... no point going there. and to compare you to thousand sons which is the closest colour rivel in the renagades codex dosnt work aas they are cooler than you...and you play fairly differently. wheras we get called bezerkers, templars get compared to the black legion etc. so the whole points moot unless you coe up with a better insult than smurf. and now we know you really dislike being called that meanns we will never stop! :D
Ultra-crying! There will be a lot more of that once this is over.
although i am surprised that most of the 'alternate' posters are black templars fans.
But baiting Smurfs is so much fun! the others seem to ignore it, while thin skinned, sons of a COWARD Ultramarines bite every time.
I "know" Hadafix is that good. So quit talking and keep walking.

And you better stop squawkin' before your skull be a knockin'.

Cut the crap. It's gone from cute-and-crude humor to idiocy real quick. The vast majority of us aren't phased by the word "smurf", but if you choose to antagonize other members of the Ultramarine subforum while pretending to be "only joking", you will no longer be welcome here.

Naw, poor baby Smurf. When the BT win this I a sure there will be a nice Puppy that can be used to wrap him in, a dress for Papa Smurf and wings so that the ccradel don't fall, and some footage of how to beat up chaos scum, so that one day, the Smurfs will know how to be a proper marines in the Emperors service.

Brother hadafix appears to be a troll. I've been in plenty of AODs and never seen anyone respond in such a way. I am disappointed that people keep feeding him.

Perhaps I am having trouble interpreting his trash talk style.. But it does not appear to be lite natured poking but base insults.

The best trash talk is always funny, maybe try that hadafix...

Man this thread has gotten nasty ;) .

Ok guys, try this. Stand up, take a couple steps back, close your eyes and exhale in slow, even breaths, chanting "They're tiny plastic men," until the urge to either be or react to a ;) has passed.

Yes, while smack talking is allowed and encouraged, there is a point at which we've gone to far. We need to rein the smack talking in so that everyone remembers that it's friendly. The occasional comment is okay, but that's not a free ticket to just run amok talking smack, especially when it gets more and more intense each time. Let's be a little more respectful.

And for what it's worth, I absolutely hate the "smurf" insult. I've considered putting a filter into the board software to prevent that term from being used. Then my conscience kicks in and I realize that such an act would be overly strict and an abuse of my near-omnipotence  so I just tolerate it when it is used. In the context of friendly smack talk, though, I can tolerate it. As soon as the AoD is over, though, the smack talk will end and my tolerance of the "smurf" word will return to rock bottom. :P

Me, too, but I wanted to give our members enough time to convert and paint suitable models if they didn't already have any. Also, Games Day is coming up next weekend and my attention is really focused on getting all of the stuff prepared for that (and I'm way behind the power curve on that). With another week to go, I'm hoping that the forums that currently have less than stellar participation will see some more entries.
i think smurf is ok, maybe a "mary sue" filter instead? :D

mary sue is useful for a lot of discussions though (and honestly, almost every special character in almost every codex could be described as a Mary Sue by their fluff)

I would like to enter this Arena of Death Competition, but I would like to know how much participation is required. I can post an entry no problem, but will anything else be required later? I'm not very good at writing so I hope long in-character stories are not needed.
