nurgling6688
Hi everyone, I am currently in the process of adding on an inquisitor, his retinue, 5 grey knight termies, some stormtroopers and a demonhost onto my space marine army. Right now i am working the most on the demonhost. I really dont like either of the models GW makes for them so i decided to have a go at making my own. I have never sculpted a model from scratch before. This is what it started as, an armature from Reaper minis. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/armature.jpg After a few days of sculpting he looked like this http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/demonhost1.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/demonhost2.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/demonhost3.jpg And after one more day of sculpting he looks like this http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/demonhost4.jpg Ive added on his loin cloth thingy, a manacle to his wrist and ankle and a hand donated from an empire state trooper. I am using the picture of Cherubeal from the Inquisitor rule book as inspiration. He has small vestigial horns on his head that are hard to see in the picture. I plan on adding a bunch of seals, chains and straps to him once i am done with his basic musculature. Right now he is missing his right elbow, hand and foot and his ears. Let me know what you think, thank you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206890-inquisition-add-on-for-my-sons-of-dorn/ Share on other sites
Brovius
That's really cool! Never tried using those armatures, but i might give it a try Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206890-inquisition-add-on-for-my-sons-of-dorn/#findComment-2468010 Share on other sites
PhallenFoenix
Is it wrong of me that my first though here is "you can't have a daemonhost and gray knights in the same army, even as allies." Other than that, I like the sculpt so far. I didn't know those armature frames existed... I'll have to look into them for myself. Currently, I'm buried in Tyranid work while I wait on my beloved =][= to get updated, but eventually I'll do more SoB and GK. What scale is the armature, relative to, say, a Gray Knight mini? nurgling6688
well it would be an either or case. i either use the demonhost or the grey knights. the fluff is that my inquisitor keeps it secret from almost everyone. hes a little smaller then a normal GW mini, but he is technically 28mm. I would say he is closer to lotr scale then 40k scale. 40k is usually heroic scale where as true 28mm is a little smaller. he still fits though. he is just a runt, but with demonic powers it doesn't really matter his size. Justicar Valius
Indeed, size matters not. Really cool so far! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206890-inquisition-add-on-for-my-sons-of-dorn/#findComment-2468202 Share on other sites
nurgling6688
Hey everyone, I have finished the first model for my Inquisition add on, may i introduce you to Interrogator Sebastian Shiloh. He is in his early 30s and has been serving under Inquisitor Lucius Garehardt for a considerable time now and is almost a full fledged Inquisitor himself. He is a master swordsman and both his power sword and shotgun style plasma pistol are antiques gifted to him. The pack on his back is in fact a xenos artifact that boosts his reflexes. He possess a rare psychic gift in that he can perfectly recall any moment from his life, kind of like a photographic memory, except he actually relives it in his mind. While not useful on the field of battle this ability allows him to re-examine key evidence they may have missed while caught up in the moment. Both him and his master are members of the ordos that deals with the plague of unbelief (cant remember what its called right now) and are frequently working with the Sons of Dorn space marine chapter as they make it a task of theirs to eradicate any infestation of nurgle. So without further ado... http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/shiloh.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/shiloh2.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/shiloh3.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/shiloh4.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/shiloh5.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/shiloh6.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206890-inquisition-add-on-for-my-sons-of-dorn/#findComment-2514168 Share on other sites
Validar
awesome model! Please tell us how you build him! I especially love the look on his face. Really dashing. I bet he is a lady's man :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206890-inquisition-add-on-for-my-sons-of-dorn/#findComment-2514697 Share on other sites
nurgling6688
thanks! Well for the body i used a model from Infinity, this one to be precise. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/img_1202770488_729_lg.jpg I cut off the one arm that was attached below the shoulder pad and cut off his head. Now i was presented with a problem, Infinity sculpts there stuff true 28mm, which basically means they are more correctly proportioned then GW who have over sized heads, hands and feet. I tried a few plastic heads but all the current GW plastics are way to big, so i went and looked at some of my older metal models, back when GW tried to make humans smaller then space marines and heads and hands the corrects size. So long story short i used Gaunt's arms and cut the bolt pistol hand off and used the plasma gunners head. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/m1440460_99110105160_ColGauntsGhostsMain_873x627.jpg I then replaced the bolt pistol hand with this guys http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/tylerrox6688/lorr.jpg whose body is being used for my Inquisitor Lord. There wasn't much sculpting involved, i sculpted the collar on the cloak and had to smooth out the seems where i connected the arms, thats all. The arms i did have to file down a bit to make them skinnier though, but not by much. Also his =I= pendant is from Cherubeal from the Inquisitor range. Hope that helps. The infinity range is great for looking for Inquistorial henchmen, especially if you want a woman.
