Anyone still using EoT for 13th?

Just curious if anyone is using this book still for their 13th. I know some people try to argue that the book is no longer legal, but I play against people who use dark eldar, inducted DH allies and necrons and all of those books are just as old or have out dated rules that were not made for 5th edition. I have a hard time accepting its legal to use a culexus assassin with a psyker battle squad but using an HQ out of the new wolf book is somehow breaks the 13th list.

Its more the lack of wargear options that makes it to easy for drop-in-to-anything play.

Theres no price for the upgrades you can give a character, or a wolf gaurd pack leader...... wheres this armory one references?

See what Im saying?

Its not impossible to do, you just agree what prices you use, but its something that people dont do on a regular basis with random strangers.

Not to mention, 13nth company wasnt always accepted even before the new codex came out.

If your referring to characters as the 3 HQ's you'd just use the entries in the Space Wolves book and pack leaders would just use the pack leader armory listed on their page. I don't see what the confusion is.

Rune Priest would sub "the gate" for stormcaller and you wouldn't have access to battle leaders or any other new units.

If I were to use the EoT 13th Company list, I would use it with the old 3rd edition Space Wolf codex, opposed to the 5th edition codex. The reason is that these two books are designed to work together, whereas issues arise when attempting to use EoT with 5th edition Space Wolves. Of course, you could certainly deal with those issues by agreeing upon what units and upgrades should cost and all that, but it seems less problematic to me to simply use the old stuff with the other old stuff.

This makes some sense, kinda handicapping to get the benefit of using and outdated/obsolete list. If used in this context (in conjunction with the 3rd edition codex) I personally would allow it.

I think the biggest issue is that Scout has changed so much from when EoT was released (that was what 3rd edition). Back then it allowed access to a single 'free' move before the game began, in this edition it opens up he possibility of Outflanking the enemy, which considering how hard the 13th Company are in combat makes it an extremely powerfull codex.

Thats my biggest beef with it, and if the person I was playing against was just going to use the scout move I probably wouldn't have an issue. But to me having a whole army (with extremely strong emphesis on combat) outflanking then being able to assault the turn they arrive gives them a pretty unfair advantage over most armies.

Add to that the introduction of run and go to ground along with the abbundance 4+ cover save and you have an army that the majority of the time you will gain one maybe two rounds of shooting at before they have destroyed a huge portion of your force.

To me EoT should be dropped, and instead you should simply theme your army using the new codex. Its far simpler and you are less likely to upset someone or get refused a game.

Anyone claiming that the 13th company can outflank is incorrect. The 13th eot book tells you exactly what they can and can not do. They can place their entire army on the table and make a free move and that is it. If the book just said (scout) then you would refer to the rulebook description but that is not the case here. Codex trumps rulebook so they must use the scout method as described in eot.
