Master Chaplain Astador
Hey guys it's been a good while since I have posted anything here. I actually took a little break from the hobby for a span on 5 months if not a little more. Si now I am working slowly on a few things and completing a couple of challenges issued by a friend of mine. The first one is to finish at least 1500pts of a single army. So I took some time finding one that I'd have fun playing regardless of how cheesy it is. So I started some Blood Angels. Death Company list: 1500 pts Astorath the Grim 220 pts Death Company 420 pts 10 Death Company, Jump packs, 3 infernus pistols, powerfist, Lemartes 150 pts Death Company 420 pts 10 Death Company, Jump packs, 3 infernus pistols, powerfist, Death Company Dreadnought 135 pts Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer Death Company Dreadnought 135 pts Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer Total: 1480 pts 22 models, 2 tanks Low model count and a cheese list of almost no shooting. I don't take it seriously it was meant for me to just have fun playing from time to time. Now onto the models I have started including a unit not in the list. http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/DSCN0962.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/DSCN0966.jpg I'll start building Astorath tomorrow and begin painting the DC. I'll also get better pics of the Terminators since they have been finished since the poor picture. So I need your encouragement to keep me going! :eek Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/ Share on other sites
wiplash
this looks great :eek, are the plastics pinned to the cork? or do they have enough grip on their own? in fact how/where do you get such good cork for your bases they look insane!! AlexCrute
You don't need encouragement. You need more friends who will issue such challenges. This one seems to be working so far. Better pictures of termies, colour scheme and cork bases please! Master Chaplain Astador
The plastic has enough grip when using super glue to hold it down to the cork. :) The cork is just $5 corkboard bought at a local hobby store and then broken into pieces and glued down. I'll have better pics and more work done on stuff today so stay tuned! Master Chaplain Astador
Alright, well today I began painting Astorath at home meaning i could only work on a few parts. So after a few hours of labourous painting in the heat here is where he stands. The black is only a wash or two from being complete. The red is just basecoated. I'm pretty happy with the way he is coming out. Unfortunately my lamp is recharging on the other side of the room so I have to wait to continue painting. But here are pictures. Enjoy and C&C http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/DSCN1007.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/Personal%20Armies/blood%20angels/DSCN1003.jpg The armour has a lot more contrast. unfortunately my camera doesn't do a great job of picking that up. I'll have my better camera by the weekend. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2469600 Share on other sites
Son Of Moriar
looks nice. but i want more pics  the DC with the zerker head looks awesome, hope the rest of the army will also do ;) I kneel at the altar of purely awesome hoping that a ray of enlightenment may shine in my direction. Seriously amazing stuff m8 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2469605 Share on other sites
Master Chaplain Astador
Well the awesomeness comes purely from the basing I suppose. Other than that they're straight from the DC box with a few random bits here and there. But I can do a tutorial on the basing if you'd like. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2469611 Share on other sites

Master Chaplain Astador
Thanks mate! I'll have some more pictures up shortly. I now have enough Death Company to run the list, well I still need two Dreadnoughts. Oh and I rand my 1K Sanguinary Guard list and managed to win against 65 Orks. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2471402 Share on other sites

Master Chaplain Astador
Haha he really should! :P Have him post them here too! lol :) I still have 5 to build then I can start painting. I'm also tweaking the Sanguinary Guard list and making it larger. But still every model in my BA army will be jump infantry for the time being minus 2 Dreadnoughts. I'll have them all primed and hopefully basecoated tonight. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2471952 Share on other sites
wiplash
Thanks for the info on the cork, seems like a really good cheap way of basing are you not using the new blood angels style jump packs (or is that only on a specific kit you havent included?) but on to ANOTHER question on basing  for the Bring the heat painting contest model is the slate made from slate or tree bark or what? But that Space Wolves statue is awesome you dont see that model much anymore, the the shop find it for you or did you get it? Master Chaplain Astador
Alright, I'll respond to the questions in order! lol First: The winged Jump packs come in the Sanguinary Guard box, I will only be using them on the Characters in this list, the regular RAF will have normal Death Company Backpacks. In my Sanguinary Guard list they will still use the winged packs. Two: The slate is tree bark I ran over with the lawn mower. The bark plus the stick where glued down then I applied Wood Filler to give the base more texture and fill the gaps that straight flock would not. Then based it with GW Sand. Three: The model is from my personal collection. So is the Njal Stormcaller model behind him which can be found here. http://coolminiornot.com/233382 On another note, I tweaked my Sanguinary Guard list up to 1500 pts. It now looks pretty nasty. Yesterday's work saw the assembly and cleaning of the last 5 DC models. Today I'll finish their bases and prime them. Pictures in a few hours. Master Chaplain Astador
And I have a little treat for you guys now that I'm out of town. I snapped a pic of the pip Dreadnoughts as I left for the airport. Ramza
Hey Master Chaplain this is an awesome BA army you have got going on here. Those terminators are the best I have seen, it just goes to show how a simple pose can make the most out of a miniature. Two question I have for you is, are the robes on the termies sculpted using GS? Also are the belts that the robes are attached to scratchbuilt as well? Cheers Josh Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2491604 Share on other sites
Master Chaplain Astador
Cheers mate, the robes weren't originally my idea, someone else on here used them. They're conversion bits from Micro Art Studios. http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/crusade...4.html?cPath=45 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206920-angels-of-death/#findComment-2491622 Share on other sites
