I'm very new to 40k and have yet to play a game w/my Blood Angels. I'll list what I have bought so far. Any advise/critiquing is appreciated. Also, what HQs would go good for me? Thanks in advance!

Mephiston

3 Baal Preds (1 FC, 1 AC, 1 in the box still)

2 Furosio Dreads

1 Libby Dread

2 10 man units of JP Assault Squads

10 Death Company

4 Devastators w/ML

1 box of Sag. Guard

I would build the army around two assault squads with infernus pistol and power weapons maybe flamer and melta gun depending on points, I personaly wouldnt have a death company much larger than 6 or 7 modles i would equid with thunder hammer. If you mount the death company in a rhino they are cheaper and you can control them better cause rage only kicks in after they get out there transports. Two furosio dreads seems point heavy to me but that would depend who you were up against, I have had great sussces with twin blood talons and the frag cannon is a good squad thinner as for a HQ i think that entierly depends on who your playing/theme of your army. I would advise reading the character article on the blood angle section of games workshops web site. Currently I play Seth (love modle) with honour guard and Lemartes. However astorath is a blessing if you love death company!! Both are low ish points value. I would get some tactical squads to line your army there often forgoten.

Devestatours good investment but obviously equip wisley and dont forget the combat squads special rule. Im sory to say I cant comment on the Baal Preds as not plaid with them but I love my land raider reedmer due to its amazing ability to kill who squads!!! I once killed 8 of ten chaos space marine with it thanks to its massive flamers. I must say though that there inclusion in the fast aqttack does allow for some very mobile tank heavy armys.

As for the sanguinary guard ther like flying terminatours except slightly less durable, I again have not used them as yet but have seen them used (they seem to get shot at by everything) but are fersome against medium/heavy infantry like orks.

Love to know how the Baal's perform!

Hi Brutus13,

Heres a list i thought of just based on your available models.

Mephiston

5 Sanguinary Guard (one with Powerfist, 3 with Plasma pistol)

1 Furioso Librarian

9 Death Company (one with TH) in a Rhino with Extra Armor

10 Assault Squad (one with Powerfist, one with Meltagun)

10 Assault Squad (one with Powerfist, one with Meltagun)

5 man Devastator Squad (2 with Missile Launcher)

That should be 1500pts in total ;)

The main assault would be the DC, hopefully the Rhino's extra armor and smoke launchers will make it last till DC assault range as it is the only tank like vehicle in the

list. Mephiston could try to hide behind the Rhino as it goes forward. These 2 threats (especially Mephy) should get the attention of your opponent.

The Libby Dread could go on the other flank with the Sanguinary Guard (SG). The Libby Dread taking Shield of Sanguinius and Wings psychic powers. Shield to cover itself and the infantry moving with it.

The first assault squad can also choose to follow the Libby & SG or the DC & Mephy.

The second assault squad would be the objective takers, probably combat squading. The power fist and meltagun in the second squad can be changed for longer ranged options if needed. The Devastator squad is to try to pop enemy transport for your assault elements to well...assault lol!

Hope this works for ya in a real battle :)

As a SW player, the general consensus is to buy one SW box and 1 Tactical box at the same time. This allows 20 SW models total from the bitz with extra special weapons and heavy weapon going to Long Fangs.

With BA it seems that your bitz come in your DC and Sang Guard boxes. So it seems the wise idea for a BA player would be for every DC or Sang box you buy, buy either a tactical box (for un-jump pack assault squads in rhinos) or assault marines boxes.

With what you have and what has been proposed, you seem low on your Troops choices. Lots of shiny with not the meat and potatoes of your force that is going to need to hold objectives.
