obs0l3te
Is a Iron priest on a TW worth it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/ Share on other sites
Grie Velorn
I honestly think so, give him 4 cyber wolves for more wounds and he is a pretty nice unit. 4 attacks on the charge at S5 with one at S8 with I1 and the cyber wolves having 16 attacks on the charge. So a total of 20 attacks on the charge and 1 after the enemy hits, I think that is pretty good hitting unit. Especially at only 155 points. Freman Bloodglaive
Iron Priests come with a thunder hammer and no option to alter that, so he'll have 2+1 (for wolf) +1 (for charging) attacks at strength 10. That's not bad, although the lack of an invulnerable save would make me a little careful with him. Max_Dammit
Only S10 weapons will insta kill him so he's pretty safe as all shooting attacks like that are on the wolves as are the first CC attacks (remember not an IC so no picking in CC) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/#findComment-2468661 Share on other sites
Heimdall Skullcrusher
He only has 1 Wound anyways to instant death is kind of a moot point. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/#findComment-2468681 Share on other sites
SeanyPrawny
Great russ' hairy sack your right! I always assumed they had 2. I was minutes away from making one too.... I don't think so now. Freman Bloodglaive
He only has one wound, so anything that successfully wounds him will insta-death him. However the cyber-wolves plus non-independent status does give him a fighting chance of doing damage. Grie Velorn
But wouldn't the cyber wolves give him a potential of 4 more wounds? Just put the wounds on the cyber wolves and save the iron priest from the really bad stuff. Freman Bloodglaive
Potential yes, but hope that no one hoses him down with a heavy bolter. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/#findComment-2468733 Share on other sites

Stormbrow II
Yeah, you can even attach more than one character and attendant Wolves to the unit so with 2 HQ's you get 3 fighty fellas, 2 of which are IC's and 8 ablative wounds in the shape of T5 Wolves. That's pretty hard to chew through. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/#findComment-2468749 Share on other sites
Daffydd Fireclaw
hmm, Thunderlord, 3 battleleaders, 1 iron priest, 4 cyberwolves, 8 normal wolves...... that's what, 14 T5 wounds, 8 T4 wounds? ;) Combined with wolf claws, frost weapons and thunderhammers, I can see this unit squishing pretty much anyone in its way....... so tempted to get that unit.... now, all I need is some money.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/#findComment-2469172 Share on other sites
Wolf Lord Loki
Mine will follow behind the Cavalry (who will be following the wolves...) so as to get a cover save. Also people who are a tad unfamiliar with the rules might assume they are part of the same unit.... right up till they go their separate ways in the assault phase!! :wallbash: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/206982-iron-priest-on-thunderwolf/#findComment-2470104 Share on other sites
