zekk
Hey iam kinda new with the marines even kinda disliked them at first sight, but with the new blood angels codex and the sanguinary guards i tought now i will try to make an marine army and here is the first try. Reason why i choose this army "units" is just i like to play and kinda hate the painting till now, now i found an army that has almost only angels how much cooler that this can it be :( so i now even like to paint it so it will be an tournement army that will lose all games but everyone will play agains it cause it a cool looking army and an fun army. That is better is painting score then in overall gaming The full unit jumping around: http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3836-1.jpg?t=1279870338 And another 1 http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3889.jpg?t=1279870399 Close ups: http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3889.jpg?t=1279870399 http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3864-1.jpg?t=1279870472 http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3885.jpg?t=1279870494 And the first guy painted: http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3894.jpg?t=1279870528 http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3900.jpg?t=1279870549 http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3902.jpg?t=1279870566 http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3898.jpg?t=1279870596 Justed painted 2 others guys but have no time to take the pictures, hope the sanguinor will done to today also:P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/207083-sanguinary-guards-army-blog-atleast-a-good-try/ Share on other sites
NExOBLIVISCARIS
They look good and the paint scheme is intresting but I think you put the wings on the wrong way. zekk
i looked for that but the wings can be placed on diffefrent ways on the model and this 1 was in mine opinion the coolest Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/207083-sanguinary-guards-army-blog-atleast-a-good-try/#findComment-2469990 Share on other sites
Morollan
Nice work. I'm liking the red feathers on the wings. Think I might do mine like that too. Bomma
I opened up this post/blog expecting complete fail due to the formatting/spelling of the title and first post information you have put down but... I was pleasantly surprised at the models you made and then the superb paint job you have applied, I also think the wings you have done backwards but with such dynamic posing of the models it looks like they are actually flying and 'zipping' around. If you want to get more replies and views I suggest you make a better title for the blog, add abit more info to the first post (army list, why your doing it, expand more on your personal info) to grab a readers interest and work from there, the results speaks for themselves and I'm sure there would be more than one person that would be interested to see this post but wouldnt bother looking because at first glance is seems like its put together by a 10 yr old. Book marking this thread to see more updates, keep em coming. Nice work. B. Mattsama
I love what you're going for, but I shudder to think of that unit on the field in my army... Everythin being true line of sight means models who are dramatically high like that are easier to shoot out of the sky, so to speak... Skanwy
Hi zekk, A superbly painted army you got there man! Its does take a bit of effort to put together, and you went the extra mile to base them in flight. I think the reds go really well with the gold armor. The gold is especially nicely painted, really smooth. I'm looking forward to seeing the Sanguinor too :P Great job! Crynn
I'm actually not such a fan of those bases. While the poses are dynamic and the models are nicely painted, random bits of scrap metal jarring up out of nothing with nothing to support such an upright metal pieces looks a bit silly to me. I would suggest adding something else to the base so it looks like the metal is stuck in dirt or even better rocks, so anything solid. You have beautiful models and I don't want to make you think I believe they are anything from that I just always think constructive criticism is better than a thread of people going 'amazing'. Just my two cents. Crynn Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/207083-sanguinary-guards-army-blog-atleast-a-good-try/#findComment-2473191 Share on other sites

Zealadin
Normally I hate the Sanguinary guard because the wings are absolutely lame. But somehow by some miracle you've actually made the wings look good. Personally I'm not sure if the GWS where just too retarded to realise THEY were the ones who did it wrong (in all the pictures AND publications) but you have certainly made these models look good (wings don't look limp and floppy) and the paint scheme and job you've done is great, although I think Sanguinors face plate could do with more detail. You said you where not initially a fan of SM which is a good start, and keep up the good work. Just ignore the 'zomg the wings are wrongzor' comments and do what looks best. Morollan
Inspired by Zekk's fantastic colour scheme on his SG guys, I decided to try out something similar on my converted Dante (with Astorath's JP). Here's the result, although sadly neither my painting nor photography are up to the standards of some of you guys on these forums. zekk
Finnaly some updates build another unit angels and an assult squad from qich i have almost fully painted 1 guy. I think this way of basing is also much better cause it not to, but more realistic @morollan How did you painted the armour the way i do it is build it up from cathlan brown to yellow with an white high light, cause i dint like the gold and te red could use an wash and then a n high light it think he would look then really good The angels http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3945.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3944.jpg And the assult squad http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3934.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3932.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3938.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/timlassooij/IMGP3938.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/207083-sanguinary-guards-army-blog-atleast-a-good-try/#findComment-2478873 Share on other sites

I'll see if I can get a better picture up, although they could probably do with some more highlights anyway. Thanks for the gold tips. Not really a fan of non-metallic metal so I stuck with a more traditional method - bleached bone base, then couple of layers of shining gold, a devlan mud wash and some shining/burnished gold highlights.
