Idea for a possible large campaign

Here's a thought:

Leman Russ returns with Vulkan, Corax in tow from the Warp, along with all that remains of the 13th Company (perhaps a 100 Space Wolves) and several hundred Wolf Brothers (3-400). (each other Primarch has at least a hundred followers who had been lost at one time or another in the Warp from their chapters) They have recovered the means to heal Roboute Guilliman and the Emperor.

Each Primarch sends for his Chapter to met him at Ultramar and the group sets out from Fenris with the entire Space Wolves Chapter. The forces of Chaos attempt to stop this group as they fight their way to Ultramar and sucessfully revive Guilliman before turning towards Terra with all of their Chapters and begin a series of running battles with the forces of Chaos that try to stop their march to the Emperor.

How would that be for an Epic Campaign? Not an end all be all, but a LONG drawn out fight. If they suceed then the Emperor would launch another Great Crusade to drive back the Orks, Eldar, Tau, Necron, and Tyranid from his Imperium, if not things continue as they are, with a few Primarchs running round.

In addition the appearances of the Legion of the Damned seem to increase!

Now I know this is a short description but its just an idea I am still fleshing out. The main idea is a series of running battles from Fenris to Ultramar and back to Terra and possibly onward. Why dont they just head on to Terra? Why doesnt each Primarch appear to his Legion and led them to Terra or Ultramar? Do other Legions join this group? If so which ones? Are any of the Primarchs changed in any way? Will Lion El'Jonson return?

The possibilities are endless.

As far as the Blood Angels goes chances are that they would be summoned by the returning Primarchs in order to ensure the sucess of their mission (that is the healing of Guilliman and the Emperor) whether or noth they would respond or head to Terra for the final battle with Chaos would be entirely up to them. I am not too familiar with their fluff, any suggestions as to what they would do would be appreciated.

The Imperial Fists would make a beeline for Terra in order to protect the Emperor. Most likely the Black Templars would send forces there as well as would most Imperial Fist successors.

Ultramarine Successors would head for Ultramar with the exception of forces Calgar would dispatch to Terra in order to have an Ultramarine presence there should Chaos make a push on the Emperor while he is connected to the Golden Throne. He would await the arrival of Leman Russ and the other Primarchs at Guillimans side.

All chapters would have three choices: 1) Continue their present conflicts and watch what happens closely, or 2) Break Contact and head for Terra, or 3) Break Contact and head for Ultramar.

Think of it like this:

The Primarchs return near Fenris and summon their Legions. Immediately the effects of this momentious event are felt throughout the Imperium.

Once the Space Wolves are ready they depart for Ultramar to heal Guilliman. Along the way each Primarch will be reunited with his Legion and each reunion will be marked with a great battle with the forces of Chaos (I am thinking one of each of the Orginal Traitor Legions arriving and attacking the parties). This continues until they reach Ultramar at which point a massive battle occurs between the remaining Traitor Legion forces and the united might of the Angels of Death.

They then turn their sites on Terra and the revival of the Emperor.

It was just an idea.

Actually I think this will be my farwell to the hobby. I have two kids and a third on the way, plus this game really doesnt do much more than suck time away from the rest of my life.

People are pretty nasty about it as well.

If I wanted nasty I could go back to Afghanistan or Iraq.

Adios.

Im so confused- sorry to hear your leaving, but I dont really understand what just happened.

Grey Mage, perhaps someone was disrespectful about the idea and had their post removed, hence the broken logic.

spjaco, a tough subject, if the Primarchs were to be brought back into the storyline, people have difficulty with their portrayal in historical events, let alone speculating on what the future holds for the Imperiums greatest heroes. I really hope at some point GW do tackle this and we see the status quo of the 40k universe change.

For my two cents I believe a scenario as you described would need to involve the traitors also having some kind of gambit up there sleeves, they can't take Terra now, let alone with several Primarchs back on the scene. Coming at the loyalists piece-meal in this scenario would make no sense, stopping them before they reach terror yes, but I would say that would look like a more orchestrated campaign based around some kind of bottle neck on route to Terra.

How about some random event happens in the eye of Terra that not only releases the Primarchs but a new more powerful chaos god that's able to take over the C'tan, necrons and others.

Make it a full out fight not only for the Imperium but the entire universe, were Earth is for the final battle.

Will this new Chaos God be able to take the mind and body of the Allfather to stay in and rule this Universe or will mankind and allies able to smash this foul thing back into the warp and close it forever.

Let the Final battle for the Wolftime to begin

Sounds similar to my ongoing Dark Heresy campaign mission with two friends. Sorry to hear you're leaving spjaco. Sometimes I guess it just takes calling it for a time or for good if you don't feel the game is going the way you want it to. Here's some final ale if this is it, and a holdover if you ever decide to try your hand at 40K again in the future.

Otherwise, the idea sounds workable, although some forces of Chaos rearing their ugly heads at each meeting might be a bit much. A party intercepting those that go to get Guilliman may make a little more sense, depending. All told, good luck with the idea. Let me check the reply/post numbers and see if we have anything missing... Nothing missing, just seems spjaco has come to a choice about gaming and raising his pups right. Good game, mate. (No sarcasm.)
