could you use BFG Ships as capital crusiers, if you mounted them on AI stands? do they have rules for larger ships? i've seen in person, either AI (Aeronautica Imperialis) or BFG models. used to play Aero tech, in the WAY back time machine.. or could reverse that, and use AI models as escorts/fighters for BFG games?

AI models are much to large to be used as fighters and even escorts would be pushing it. I'm not sure about what you are attempting to ask in the first half of your question though.

in real terms, the only thing that would compare, would be like old world war I zepplins, and they would use them as long ranged bombers, and escort them with bi-planes (red baron kinda of stuff)

i was also thinking about it, using 40k tau crisis suits on flight stands would work as like the SDF-1 from robotech/ or like the Mechs from Big O. use one or two for like godzilla in space conflicts... i dont know just thinking out loud i guess
