MylesTheTroll
Are you able to combat squad an Assault Squad so that half of the squad has Jump Packs and the other half is in a dedicated transport? More so, would that squad taking the dedicated transport STILL get the discount on the transport? Also, if you combat squad this unit, and they both decide to take a dedicated transport, would you get a 35pt discount for each transport, or just one? toaae
Since Combat Squading is done at deployment and not while writing the list, the answer to all your questions is "No."
MylesTheTroll
Since Combat Squading is done at deployment and not while writing the list, the answer to all your questions is "No." But yet a 10man unit that combat squads can still take 2 dedicated transports? Is that correct?
SDarmy
no. for army listing and builds the squad counts as being one squad. it isnt until deployment that the squads seperate.

Is that correct? I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer Tahaal gave some moments ago. :) You buy JPs, Transports, Extra weapons etc during list-writing, at which point the Squad is one Squad. When you get to the table, you may choose to split into Combat Squads, but it is to late to change the list at this point. If you buy the Squad JPs, it is all of them. If you buy a dedicated transport, it is one for the full Squad. All upgrades, extra weapons, etc are done as One Full Squad. Combat Squads take no part until you are at the table. The reason why I'm second guessing this is because I was told earlier this year (a few months ago actually) on this very site that it was in fact legal for a combat squad to take 2 dedicated transports. Although, I am unable to find the original thread. I'll contiune searching. Though, I believe what is being said in this thread. EDIT: Yeah, only posts from June 10th to present are visible. Lame. LordofDeath11
You can only take a dedicated transport if the squad has no jump packs in it.
BlackSpike
Ah, thats a shame you can't see older posts! :) I've never heard of being able to take 2 Dedicated Transports for one Squad (even if you intend to deploy them as 2 Combat Squads later). You don't have to combat Squad your Unit ... what would happen then? You put the 2nd Rhino back, and re-spend 40pts? Lose the pts? ###Does not compute!### #runs round in circles, smoke pouring from ears, and then explodes. ;)
