BatRep

So I played a game against a friend of mine who today used a mech army @ 1750 which had the following in it :

 

Commander w/ Power Weapon, Melta bombs

 

Emperors Champion

 

10 man squad of neophytes with Bolters, meltagun and power weapon, Rhino

 

10 man squad of neophytes with Bolt Pistols, meltagun and Power Weapon, Rhino

 

10 man Command Squad with 2 Power Weapons, 2 Meltaguns, Meltabombs

 

Land Raider, Extra Armour, PoTMS

 

Triple Las Pred

 

Ven Dread, Twin Linked Lascannon, Tank Hunter

 

Dreadnought, Assault Cannon

 

 

My List, which is mainly Jump Inf.

 

Libby w/ Jump Pack, Blood Lance, Shield

 

2 Sanguinary Priests, Jump Packs

 

Furioso, EA, Pod w/ beacon , Blood Talons

 

Furioso, EA, Pod, Blood Talons

 

Assault Squad, T. Hammer, 2 x Meltaguns

 

Assault Squad, P. Fist, 2 x Meltaguns

 

Devastator Squad, 1 Lascannon, 3 Missile Launchers, Pod

Vanguard Squad (5), Jump Packs, Fist

We rolled 1 objective each and Spearhead Deployment, he gets first turn, I fail to steal initiative. (My View) : He takes top right hand corner with most cover and I get Left corner with little cover.

 

I keep everything in reserve except Devastators and he deploys everything.

 

His 1st Turn: Land Raider moves 12 diagonally towards my objective with his rhinos reversing behind to protect rear armour. Dreads move 6 diagonally. Everything he has shoots my devastator squad with Pod and kill 1 Missile and the sarge and they Run! but only 2 inches

 

My 1st Turn: 2 Dreads come in right next to each other. next to his Tri-las pred. One scatters 10 inches off the board and gets destroyed the other goes 10 inches towards my quarter and pops smoke. Not going well. The full Dev squad shoots the Pred and immobilizes it which means it only has 2 lascannons on my dread.

 

His 2nd Turn: Land raider moves the same way at the same speed with the Emperors champion following close behind. Las Dread turns to meet the Furioso and Assault cannon dread moves up towards the 3 man dev squad. Las dread shoots my Furioso and gets a Pen and Rolls a 2! Luck is changing :D . Pred shoots the Furioso and 1 gets saved and the other does nothing, Asscannon dread shoots 3 man dev squad and does nothing.

 

My 2nd Turn: Just the 2 RAS come in with the Libby and the priests. 1st squad with the libby hit next to the Pred and the other squad scatters 2 towards the Ven dread. Forget to move Furioso which proves to be the games undoing. 3 man dev squad shoots Asscannon dread and scores 3 pens and wreck it. Full Dev squad immobilize the bolters squads rhino. 2nd assault squad shoots the rear of ven dread at half range and blows off a weapon and immmobilizes it and he asked for re-roll and i gladly roll again and score and Explosion! Libby uses lance and wreck the pred but the squad fires at the same time and ends up blowing it up killing 1 of my marines from the 2nd assault squad.

 

His 3rd Turn: Raider moves 12 next to trees and he knows he's out of charge range so leaves the command in it.Rhino pulls up about 10 inch's from dev squad. His bolter squad emerges from the immobilized rhino and charges my 2nd assault squad killing 2 and i kill 1 in return I pass LD and continue fighting

 

My 3rd Turn: Drop Pod Comes in and I place it next to my full devastator squad to cockblock the objective. 2 Vanguard turn up. Place 1 next to my stricken assault squad and the other near his rhino but the 1st that was placed near my assault squad scattered to my other vanguard squad and so they prepare to destroy the thino. Libbies assault squad moves up to the stricken assault squad and so does the dreadnought which also runs closer. Both Dev squads shoot raider and do zilch. I combat i lose 1 on my stricken assault squad and he loses 4. I win and he passes his saves. Vanguard assaulted the Rhino and 1 squad scores 5 Glances and 3 pens and blow up the rhino which kills 1 of my other vanguard squads men.

 

His 4th Turn: Land raider pulls up to Full dev squad holding objective and disgorges its deadly command squad cargo. Rhino Pulls behind my devs and holds my Objective. His command Squad kill my dev squad down to the sarge and he deasl no wounds in return but i pass my saves. He kills 1 more of my stricken assault squad who deal 1 wound in return.

 

My 4th turn:

Dread moves in arond my stricken assault squad, Libbies squad flies over head and towards the trees which hide his land raider and Vanguard move up closer ahead. 3 man dev squad shoots raider and does zilch. Furioso runs into combat and rips the bolter BT squad to bits and consolidates and the stricken assault squad consolidate around his objective and sit there for rest of the game. Dev squad sarge is destroyed by his commander.

 

His 5th Turn: Land raider moves back onto a hill and shoots my vanguard squad with no casualties and kills 2.

 

My 5th Turn: My Vanguard squad with 1 casualty mved up to his command squad but is just out of charge range and my other one flies over the tree's towards his Emperors champion and runs but is out of contesting range. Dread moves and runs towards tree's. Dev squad shoots and immobilizes his land raider.

 

ANOTHER TURN

 

His 6th Turn: Command squad charges my vanguard squad with 1 casualty and wipes them out. Emperors Champion wipes out my other vanguard squad.

 

My 6th Turn: Assault Squad moves up infront of his raider and command suqad and is getting ready for a multi-charge. Furioso moves and runs closer to objective. 3 man dev squad opens up with las and frag to try and do most damage to the empoers champions squad but deals 2 frag wound and one las wound all of which are saved cause of cover. Libbies squad multicharges with hammer going to raider. I lose all my except the hammer and libby. Hammer rolls 2 sixes out of 3 dice for armour pen on Raider and makes it go boom but kills himself in the process along with 2 BT's. Libby falls to combat res.

 

ANOTHER TURN!

 

His 7th Turn: Command squad moves to combat the threat of the pod contesting and so does the Emperors champions squad. Command squads melta's miss and e normal squads one fails to even damage it. The command squad assaults with MB's and kracks which eventually wreck it.

 

My 7th Turn: Furioso bounds into the tree's with a 5 being rolled for difficult terrain. Dev squad opens up with kraks this time and kill 2 which causes the BT's to shuffle about. Furioso rolls a 4 for assault and just makes it. Commander and squadie go for melta bombs commander rolls 5 and rerolls and gets a 5! Squadie rolls a 4 and rerolls to a 5! Lucky! Dread then annihilates the squad and takes a wound off commander who falls to a lot of combat res wounds. Dread consolidates 5 but is about 2 millimetres from contesting the Objective. A DRAW.

 

This is why the forgetting to move furioso was a game undoing for me. I probably would have won if i had moved the dread.
