hello. welcome to my blood angels WIP. thanks for coming. this is a log of me building my 1750pts BA army. hopefully i'll get it done sometime before the nids and daemons attack Baal. i'd like them to help out w/ the war effort. there'll be a little bit of green stuff involved and some casting. they all might fail, but i'll give them a shot. well anyway, this is what i got so far.

i got 12 assault dudes w/ bolt pistol/chainsword so far. my meatier/manlier version of chainswords. i think BA chop enough people up that they deserve special chainswords and the normal little ones weren't doing it for me. i got the idea from coolminiornot a while ago. though i've only seen like 1 pic of it and maybe it's just me but i thought it was cool.

the arms on the bottom there took a long time to make. had to chop up left arms and right arms and blah. cuz you can tell that so far all 12 of my dudes are left handed w/ the chainswords. that's cuz only the left hands are straighten out. all the right hands are curved at the elbow, so the bigger chainswords wont fit. yea i'm sure they sell other right arms that are straighten out, but these normal arms are cheap and i got a bunch.

so far this is my favorite dude. i love his pose. like he's coming to chop you up into pieces and then bathe in your blood. his armpit looks better in RL, they got ceases like the other joints and with shoulder pads on you can barely see it. i usually use greenstuff to pose my minis. sometime i paint them up to test them, which is why some got random parts painted. and if i dont like it i can just pluck them apart and start again. and with the added material, you can get better poses.

all of these guys have running legs and JP's. though i wont glue em on until after both parts are painted... really hard to paint together. and these are temp bases. i ordered some lava bases off of dark art miniatures, i think they got the best base/price and i'm not making my own bases, too lazy. and lava really fits BA since from what i heard, Baal is hot and hostile.

there are a couple guys with khrone berserker running legs. i cut off all the daemony stuff. they turned out alright. though it was more work than the normal running ones. probably won't use them any more as i want my guys to have knee pads for squad markings. oh and you can see the shoulder pad with the 8th company marking on it right there. all of my guys are from 8th company cuz all of them are assualt. i don't know how i'm gonna make 30+ of those shoulder pads.. probably some kinda mod so i can just press on the details... gonna build it up more to make it round and blood droplet like.

this is a little test chaplain. testing the coloring too. didn't like how it turned out. love the pose but hate the paint. hate the crappy base as well. might chop him up into tiny little pieces and make an assault dude outta him. or i'll just keep him for fun.

everyone will have proper company/squads markings. helmet colors will be as in the codex. overall color scheme, well dark red or something like the chaplain, not the bright red of normal BA. well i gotta make like 30 of these guys... got the DC box coming, so i'll use them to make sgts... guess i gotta buy the meltagun bits from GW since i'm pretty sure DC dont come w/ meltaguns... i need to pick up 3x baal preds and 3x razorbacks... and make meph, cuz i hate the model GW got of him, and some priests... and that'll be it i guess...

 

here's my list if anyone's interested. haven't made up my mind who i wanna give the last couple PWs to yet.

Have to say that I like that chappy, although as you say the paint seems wrong for him.

 

I would slap a jump pack on him though and have him lead the dc or one of the assault squads personally :)

he's suppose to have a JP on him, i didn't put it on cuz it's really hard to paint. and yea really didn't like the paint scheme on him so bleh. guess i could use him as a reclusiarch.

26 8th company shoulder pads. just 2 blood drop, not exceptionally hard to freehand, and there are transfers, but i just like the 'raised' thing more. need bout 10 more, but outta shoulder pads so :/

this was a fantasy arm i think. trying to make it looks like a space marine's arm, cuz i really like the pose. i'm gonna see if i can make a mold outta it, cuz i really want to use it for all the power weapons, or even force weapon. gonna attach wings and model a blood drop onto it later.

here's a tiny blood drop added to the AM's armor. once that dries, i'll make a mold outta it and slap it on everyone.

Very nice. Will you be green stuffing over the khorne symbol or just filing it down?
