hi :D biglou here, im thinking of starting a new chapter called the Blood Seekers, and ive had an absoloutely crazy idea to paint my chaplains and death company in a bright orange colour, with red detail. Do you think its a terrible idea? Beacause i think that red and orange could look awesome if i got it right. The bulk of my normal infantry would be red but with orange detail, so the colours from normal to dc would be 'inverted'.

Also, if you couldnt paint your dc black, white or red as the main armour colour, what other colour would you choose?

u guys are a riot.... sigh.... B) anyway im back in england atm, but not anywhere near my hobby station atm (its about 170 miles away :( ) so it will still be a while until i can get a few test models done... im visiting some family you see.

oh, and does anyone know a good TECHNIQUE for painting orange? ;)

ps, tread carefully with your answers to this one, drachnon and leonaides... xD

Orange can be hard to paint, as it easily ends up looking dirty or uneven.

It also doesn't contrast with red much, if at all.

Unless you go a really dark red I think you will be dissapointed by the results.

As others have commented orange with black, or orange with purple or a very deep blue generally is much nicer on the eyes, and would give the squads a more prominent place in your army.

I wouldn't say that it can't work (depends on painting skills and the tones of colour you use) but if your really set on using red and orange I'd make it an extremely deep dark red.

In the end as long as your happy and they look good who cares if people don't like your colour scheme, there are far too many sheep who think they can only use colours used or listed in a codex, or on the model box.
