Ambition over common cence

Hail to thee brethren.

With the Warp storms swirling tighter over the worlds of man, and the green tide soon to swarm over the Imperial space a new chapter of humanity's greatest warriors emerge to answer the onslaught.

With help of my brother we have managed to pull together a impressive force of Space Marines, combined with the core of my previous collection, a solid army is bound to emerge...

This blog will be an an WIP log of the progress.

The goal, is to complete 500 points of units before continuing onto the next unit, as I know how hard it is to motivate yourself to actually complete a batch of marines, especially when you have so many goodies laying around the work area.

The goal is not to only paint a tabletop quality army, but a showcase army.

the main goal is to have at least 1000 point ready for the 2010 Baltimore Games Day.

So, what I have:

Land Raider Crusader

2 Land Speeder typhoon

Predator

whirlwind

razorback

2 Rhino

10 marines will be converted to sternguard from the Assault on Black Reach

30 Tactical Marines

10 Assault Terminators

5 Terminators

Captain

10 Assault Marines

10 Devastators

All models will be heavily converted, a heavy patch up job on salvaging the old miniatures, and resurrecting them in to new glory. pictures will come soon.

So, here is my workbench

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Black Reach Sternguard, myself being a Bargain Bin player. I have one model in my own Sternguard being a snap-fit marine with a purity seal tacked on and painted with a white helmet and shoulder trim. Oh, and a gold-plated bolter. Can't go wrong with those.

I wish you the best of luck in this endeavour. Care to show our audience the heraldry of your new chapter?

Dave the Twisted, answering your prayers, the chapter symbol is Chosen and sculpted already on a Rhino door and a sturnguard shoulder pad... the idea is to press mold all other chapter shoulder pads on the rest of the sturnguard.

Not all models from AoBR will be sturnguard, some bekies will be tossed in for variety and a metal sergeant.

I'm all so thinking on making an camo drape over the left shoulder pads as well.

As of now, all I have completed and ready for priming is:

Captain, can't decide if I want him to have a combi melta or not. Probably will

Tactical squad.

2 Rhinos

So, on to the pics!!!

The converted captain, I didn't much care for the really ornate backpack and the bling over his head. I think now he is more balanced out, and ready to lead his battle brethren to glory

The first completed Tactical squad. If any of you remember the 2en edition, there was a tradition, when a tactical squad is combated, the leader of the squad with the missile launcher also had a backpack banner... So you could pick the leader out.

http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/y363/brothermelice/warhammer%20project/tactical1.jpg?t=1280451489

Since I decided to go against using backpack banners altogether, I did like the idea of diferinciating combat squad leaders.

Using different icons on the back packs seemed like a good idea...

The flamer also got an upgrade, just seemed to me there was something terribly wrong with that coke can on the flamer, I mean has any one seen a flamethrower? the napalm cans are HUGE... So with some browsing around in my brother's tool box I came out with these funny looking thingies, that just screamed at me use for flamethrower canisters.

I decided that the Medusa Gorgona mask would perfectly tie in with the desert theme I'm going for... So a little of green stuffing and one of the most feared greek monsters was all ready to strike any fool brave enough to look in her eyes.

Hey all...

Here is an update on the project.

Both Rhinos now have chapter Icons modeled on their side hatches.

Also the AoBR Dread will have a minor modification made to his arms, that as it turned out had gaps in it's arms, I was wondering if GW would manage to make a mess out of something in the snap models to minimize the costs, and they did.

So some styrene and glue the irritation was no more. Also I want to move the DCCW a little to the side for a more dynamic look on a pretty still model.

Started on painting the first batch of marines to a basic color, nothing complex, just a basic color layout. Both squads.

The captain model also had a basic layout of color done....

One of the land speeders is almost complete...

http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/y363/brothermelice/warhammer%20project/DSC_0021_crop.jpg?t=1281057749

I decided to continue the WWII tradition of aircraft nose art, but to take it to a whole new level with the free handing..

so all of my vehicles will be named and will have a some kind of pin-up art on them...

I also decided to paint the interiors of the vehicles... here is on one of the Rhinos

Sorry for any blurry and darker pics...

My plan is now to get the Sturnguard and a Thunder Hammer Terminator squads preped and converted, after that its priming the dread with the two squads.

any CC is always welcomed, so don't hesitate to comment.
