The Spears of Ultramar

Cool Termie

The only (tiny) problem I see is that the spear is too far stuck in the ground for me (my opinion). I would have the blade sticking out of the ground a little.

Can't wait to see more ^^

You're totally right. I did want to have the blade sticking out of the ground more initially. Unfortunately the blade is too thin to support any pressure on the shaft (hehe.... shaft. Sorry couldnt resist ). If I wasnt planning on using the army (and having to transport it around) then it would be as you suggest but I had to bow to practicability on this one

Thanks for all the comments guys. It really gets the inspiration for me to carry on going.

Keep up the excellent work! Loving everything that you do :)

One suggestion with the combi-plasma terminator, perhaps you could strap the spear to his back or something? I love the model but the spear in the ground seems a bit awkward... it is afterall a precious artifact of the imperium :)

Its been a while again since I updated (got lots on at the moment).

Firstly let me cover the comment to put the spear strapped to the back. I had considered this as an option but found that they were so long it just didnt work very well. Im still considering when I get around to the power armoured marines to have them with spears strapped to their backs but I will have to see what it looks like. Im probably more likely to have the combi weapon on a strap.

Anyway, he's the new terminator armed with a power spear and storm shield. I wanted this guy keep pretty simple but Im happy with how he looks. The leather bands between the legs give a good sense of motion and I love the sculpt on this face. With the forward marching pose he really looks like he wants to bash someones face in with the blunt end of his spear just so they can feel the wrath of the Emperor that little bit longer :)

As always comments and criticism is welcome.

I wanted to get another of the squad leaders done. I also came to the realisation that I need to do more with helmets on so that made up the choice of what head he was going to have. Also I felt that the squad leaders had enough that would make them individual to make it OK to have them without a bare head. That being said I wanted to have something to make him stand out so I went for a half robe thing. I thought this would make him look quite interesting, while showing enough of the blue armour to leave no doubt about him being a dark angel or something silly like that :)

Time for a new weapon type as well. I had the points left over so I wanted to give a terminator a wolf claw (as Im using the space wolf codex so I can have terminators as troops, being a the first company and all). But to fit in with the theme of the army I wanted to make it a pole-arm. I decided that a trident would fit the bill, being recognisable as something that makes sense to be a wolf claw and being obviously different to the spears of the rest of the army.

Here he is with and without arms so you can see the half-robe.

Very very cool, Koran. Loving all the poses, you've been a real inspiration to my own terminator army. The degree of modelling that has gone into each one really shows that every individual in the army is a hero of the chapter. Thanks again for sharing, look forward to seeing more :( Especially when paint starts going into these banners! Will you be doing some freehand on the shields too?

This is hugely inspirational! I'm currently working on a First Company for my Minotaurs and with the greatest of respect to you, I'll be nicking a few ideas (especially that Terminator shooting with his foot on the barrel!

These termies are inspirational, have just basecoated 30 termies for my Ultramarine 1st company, unfortunately am not good at conversion so are bog standard. Do you mind if i borrow some of the paint schemes though :) ?

Looking forward to seeing more.

Molloch: If you need any details on any colours used feel free to ask.

Thanks again for all of the kind comments guys.

Ive been working on one of the transports for the power armoured vets that are going to be in the army. I chose a razorback for the extra anti-tank fire power but wanted to add a little more to it. This is what I came up with:

Ive also managed to paint up one of the terminators that Ive converted up. Im pretty happy with this guy as holding a gun two handed is a little unusual for a terminator.
