Dear Emperor of Mankind

Someone (I think on this forum) had a theory that it wasn’t because of instantaneous travel, but that because the Emperor wanted to collapse the webway after he accessed it, in order to channel its resulting powers in some way and become a god. Something he couldn’t really tell his Primarchs…

HERESY!!!!!!!!! :(

seriously though has some bady been listening to Erebus again.

my letter

The Throne room

Imperial palace

Terra

Dear Mr Emperor

Please be more clear as to which mutants we are allowed to play with and which should be shunned. Do not Distrust crazy one eyed psychics. Do not hold back when fighting your sons. And finally purge the blasphemies that are hte work of Matt Ward.

Thats an interesting one. Could be what Ahriman is after in the Black Library

The big E didnt foresee the heresy because Chaos was actively blinding him to the future they are attempting to create... you have to remember Chaos was playing the long game and they were putting actions in motion centuries before it happened. They were not going to leave it to chance that the Emp would stumble across their plans.

Dear Legionator,

Angorn is not a moron,he has anger management issues.

Plus he is the only chaos primarch that does s#&t done.

Lorgar well,he is just a little lazy.

Signed the emperor.

P.S.1 I would, but cant figure out why GW doesnt allow us to go past 999m41.

P.S.2 If you consider this two morons, wait till GW tells you what the two secret ones did.

200 years of being both their father and, more importantly, their liege lord.

It's reasonable to expect them to obey a simple "Keep and eye on things for a while. I'm going back to Terra for a minute" command.

After all, they burned entire systems in his name and were away without his direct guidance for long stretches of time, this should have been no different.

That's a really good point....

The galaxy is a very big place, and the legions were very spread out by the end of the Crusade, so its reasonable to assume that the Primarchs actually saw very little of the Emperor even before he went back to Terra. And then the time span from Ullanor to Istvaan is only a few short years...

Anyway, he could have just said "Keep on winning lads, I've just remembered I left the gas on back home....won't be long!" and they would have been none the wiser! ;)

Big E refereeing at home with the lads...

"Mortarion, don't put that in your mouth. It's dirty, you don't know where it's been."

"Russ, you know Freki isn't allowed to eat off the table! At meal times, he stays outside!"

"Magnus, what have I told you? That's right, no telekinesis near the tv! If you break that before the Smurfs, you're brother Roboute will be very sad"

"Fulgrim, stop posing in front of that mirror boy!"

"Lorgar! What have I told you about reading those fairy tales?"

"Rogal, calm down...what? he did?...Konrad, did you lock Rogal in the cupboard again? You know he does'nt like the dark!"

"Leman! For the last time; STOP DRINKING OUT OF THE TOILET!"

"Konrad, Perterabo, why was Rogal locked in the coal shed?"

"Fulgrim, is that make up?"

"What do you mean Ferrus tried to chop your hand off?"

"Mortarion, it's good that you're making friends but do they really have to be within 49 paces at all times? I only made tea for 21..."

"Alpharius? I swear I just saw you and Roboute play fighting in the kitchen, how did you get upstairs so fast?"

"Sanguinius, is that gum in your wings? I swear..."

"Perturabo, stop knocking over Rogal's Lego castles"

"Alpharius, did you just clone yourself? I told you the lab was off-limits!"

"Alright, everyone! Family meeting! I just had to purge two of your brothers, so..."

"Jaghatai, the brakes! Use the -*crash* brakes."

"That better not be a dead rat, Leman..."

"Angron, put down the kitchen knife and let's talk this out."

Having knowledge of what led to the fall of the Eldar, the Emperor orchestrated the eventual downfall that would prevent the same thing from happening to the human race and reach their true potential by facing the conflict and hardship of the grim future that only knows war.

"No Fulgrim, I will not help you 'do your hair'."

"Ferrus, flesh is not weak, it's fine as it is. Put the cleaver down and let go of Roboute's hands.."

"Horus, if you're not going to help your brothers with their homework, you can go straight to your room! And don't think I can't hear you muttering about False Emperor's young man!!"

Maybe its like the Y2K scare where all the media tried to convince us our computers would crash and wee needed to buy "Y2K compliant" batteries and light bulbs.

It would probably involve something like this:

"Introducing Warhammer 41,000 with all new rules, codices, templates and models.........concerned about compatibility with your current product? don't be, it's not. Relent and start over........sucker!" ;)

I am one of the ones who thinks he planned the Heresy. I mean, when he named Horus warmaster, he called Dorn back to build him a fortress. Now why would you need a fortress when you are about to win the GC?

Oh, and, "Sanguinius! No flying in the house!"

It was a statement. What's the point in ruling large swathes of mankind if you can't sit inside your castle gloating? It would make less sense for him to go back to Terra and live in a hive...

Is it not possible that it was the Emperor himself who wanted the heresy? We know from Legion that if humanity succumbs to chaos, there will be mass extinction events across the galaxy as humans are consumed wholesale by daemons, but it is the same concept as in nature when a food supply expands exponentially and then disappears--many of the daemons starve and the warp calms.

But in the webway, a large group of humans can live free of warp-taint and survive the coming storm. In time, the gates would open and they could re-colonize the galaxy--the right way, without being led by the nose by immortal transhumans with nothing better to do than contemplate their terminal incompleteness.

We know that the Emperor knew this; what if Horus was supposed to win? I posit that the Emperor had everything under control until Magnus broke into the webway, crushing the Emperor's plans. By that point, Horus' plan was already in motion and the Emperor had scant weeks to figure out how to salvage the situation. In the end, he knew that humanity was ultimately doomed and that it was only a matter of time. Chaos had essentially won, so he decided to give humanity as much time as he could and struck down Horus at the 11th hour, splintering the traitor legions. In doing so, he was severely wounded. He then consigned HIMSELF to the Golden Throne, where his best friend had just died because the enormity of his failure to save humanity finally overcame him. Why go on at that point?

The Emperor does not protect. Did not protect. Cannot protect. He is in his own hell in every way that the Daemon primarchs are. When Draco met him, the Emperor did not even know that he was the Emperor, or he was an empty shell that held the dying soul echoes of sacrificed psykers.

Wow, that makes the 41st millennium even more grimdark.

I'm not sure that anything in the Inquisition War trilogy should be taken as cannon these days.

Throne I hated those books! Spent several weeks and quite a lot of money tracking down copies of the books on ebay only to discover that they were crap. And the BL then reprinted them so I couldn't even flog 'em off on ebay.
