Revelations from The First Heretic

Ok, a little pre-mature, but in the extract alone we have additional information never before seen!

Let's just jump straight to the information shall we?

It is specified there are 18 Legions, not 20 but 18! This means one of several things; either the other 2 were never created, have been destroyed or have been struck from all human consideration for some reason. In any case, the Imperium did not consider their existance.

The Emperor's arrival hurt the Word Bearers and not the Ultramarines. Was this deliberate by the Emperor to cowe the Word Bearers into obedience? Or was it because the Emperor and his powers, being the natural enemy of Chaos, was harmful to the already tainted Word Bearers?

And of course we have the other revelations such as the description of more Primarchs, their attitudes and secrets (hidden names etc) but also where the power within the Imperium seems to lie. It appears that Malacador is not considered by all that his position is above the Primarchs, yet some seem to recognise him being the voice of the Emperor.

So what other revelations can we accumulate here that some of us may miss? I'm hoping that as we read the book this thread get's busy, even if we end up with more questions than when we started ^_^

If nothing else, let's hope it sparks discussion!

***Edit*** @ Mods: does this topic warrant a new thread? I just looked at the "new hh novel in the pipeline topic and thought i could have messed up here?

Regarding Malcador that is a very interesting question. I believe some of the Primarch such as Horus, Dorn, Guilliman do respect Malcador and realise he is the Emperors voice but then the more 'rebellious' ones such as Russ and now Lorgar dont respect him... im not sure... Perhaps we cannot really use this as an example as Lorgar is angry at this point.. interesting..

The Emperors arrival.. perhaps it is a bit of both? Are the Word Bearers and Lorgar with chaos at this point?

Maybe you shouldnt take it that literally? As in that the Word Bearers weren't in actual physical pain but were simply feeling humiliated.

It might have to do with the fact that the Word Bearers already considered the Emperor a god and due to the wacky ways in which the warp works that could have made him have a godly aura but only for them because they were the only one's there that believed it. Either that or A D-B wanted to write a cool scene to introduce Tha Emprah himself. Take your pick.

It makes more sense in context, with the scenes that follow. There's a reason the Ultramarines are just kneeling respectfully, and the Word Bearers are in agony. There's also a reason they see the burning gold, and the Emperor's son does not.

Thought that would be the case; it might be early, but coudn't wait to start a thread on some revelations from your book.
